    Hi,
I’m experiencing a strange audio issue in Automobilista 2 in VR with my HP Reverb G2 and a real 5.1 speaker system.
    My setup is:
    • HP Reverb G2
    • Real 5.1 speakers (Trust Tytan)
    • Voicemeeter Banana
    • Windows speaker configuration: 5.1
    • Windows Spatial Sound: Off
    • In AMS2, Headphones Mix: Off
    • AMS2 audio output: Voicemeeter Input
    • SteamVR audio output: Voicemeeter Input
The 5.1 system works correctly in other games, including RaceRoom, and it also works correctly with most cars in AMS2.
    The problem
The problem seems to occur only with open-wheel/formula cars.
When driving a formula car, the engine sound does not remain fixed relative to the car/cockpit.
For example, when I look straight ahead:
    • the engine sound is relatively weak/muffled;
    • I mostly hear other cars and environmental sounds.
Then, without turning the car, if I turn my head to the right, the engine sound becomes much louder and appears strongly in the rear/right speaker.
If I turn my head back to the center, the engine becomes weak again.

So it feels as if the 5.1 sound field is being rotated according to my VR head orientation, rather than remaining fixed relative to the car.
This is particularly noticeable with formula/open-wheel cars. With other cars, the behavior seems normal.
    Important point
This setup worked correctly about a week ago, so I don't think this is a hardware problem or a fundamental limitation of my audio setup.

I have also verified that Windows 5.1 speaker testing is working correctly for my normal speaker setup, and the same system behaves correctly in other games.

Has anyone experienced this specifically with formula/open-wheel cars in VR?

Is there a setting or configuration in AMS2 that controls whether the 3D audio orientation follows the VR headset? I'd like the 5.1 sound field to remain fixed relative to the car/cockpit, regardless of where I turn my head.

    Thanks!

I’m answering my own question :): you just need to enable Windows spatial sound.
