I'd like to be able flip the ignition and start the car myself at the beginning of a session while in the pits. It's a little thing, but I love the little extra immersion it brings to both Raceroom and iRacing when using a button box.

The option/feature is already there for mid-session should you stall etc, so hopefully it's a relatively minor thing to add.

As an aside on my first post - Great stuff on the recent FFB/physics updates. The 90s Formula and V8Supercars in particular keep pulling me back for more.

It still auto starts all the time when leaving the pits, only if you stall it you have to manually start.

That doesn't affect the initial ignition while in the pits.. I do wonder if that's an oversight/bug?

I think it's an oversight/bug. It's kinda annoying, because I've a buttonbox and I want to start the car manually. It also adds immersion. :D

Oh, it did used to in an early release, I'm sure. I tried it a few times and forgot about it in later updates. I do apologise.

    Nothing is broken.

If a server has Auto Start On, your car will start with the press of the throttle (might need to press the clutch) independently of your settings.
If it's Off, you need to use your keybinds to turn the Ignition and Engine on.

If you mean starting from the Pit Garage, the initial starting process is always automatic and each subsequent launch already has the engine on.

A weird design choice by SMS when they built the Madness Engine, yes, but not a bug.

From Pit garage yes what a silly system then if you can't start the engine yourself .
Its my only gripe as I really like this game

I don't know if and when the devs can change that as I suspect it might be deeply programmed in the code, but it's mostly a matter of priorities. I can only hope that they dedicate a month purely to immersion improvements, but the game needs to have evolved quite a bit still to afford that

Sort of related but how about removing the driving through other cars in the pit lane...that's a big immersion breaker.

Very dangerous.. Is there any sim where that is actually being used for real (assuming it's even available)?

That is intended just like contactless formation laps / rolling starts. Reason being the timing of exiting pits not being perfect and often causing overlap between cars. To be fair, ACC and iRacing (no idea about other games) also don't have contact in the pits.

Ive never really had an issue with that in rF2, but I rarely drive in public servers in that one.
Just seems really wrong being able to drive through another car.

Live for Speed has pit collisions since forever. never had any major issues with it, except when i accidently blocked someone during a league race, when i used the pitspot right infront of him, he had a bit of issues get out of his.

in that game you can use any pitslot to do your pitstop

A true griefer would have Austin Powersed himself at the pit exit - blocking everyone from leaving the pits (or forcing them to leave out the wrong pit exit and get disqualified)

if i remember correctly i got a warning for that, and that i should use a different pitslot next time xD
i think there were people actually blocking the exit but it was so wide on most tracks that not even being perpindicular was enough to fully block the exit
