    My main wishes for AMS2

    First, let's start with a big satisfaction: since the 1.6.6 update, the handling of the cars (well, not all the AMS2 cars because, on the one hand, there are so many of them and, on the other hand, there are some that I simply never drive!) has really improved, and it's now a real pleasure to drive Group C cars, whereas before, it wasn't that much fun...
    Now, I'd like to look to the near future so that AMS2 can finally establish itself as the benchmark simulation and so that we can all enjoy it to the fullest. How can I influence this?
    Simply: by expressing what I want in terms of developments!
    So, I'm well aware that these will remain my wishes, which will surely not be shared by everyone. For example, modern cars don't interest me much; I prefer historic ones (yes, and some would say that's because I'm old!). Or maybe multiplayer doesn't really concern me because I prefer to face AI that won't complain about my possible mistakes. In short, you'll understand, I don't claim to be universal, but I still think that specifying my wishes can be useful... So, I'll do it here.
    First, I'll start with what I don't think is a priority: I'm not asking for more new cars or new tracks!
    There are already plenty of them in AMS2, and this isn't where real progress needs to be made (still in my opinion). Of course, we simracers are spoiled brats, and if Reiza whispered to me that they were working on a historic version of Sebring (the 1970 one) or the Dijon track, I'd already be salivating, instantly forgetting my previous good resolutions...
    Anyway, back to my priorities... I only ask two things: 1- that the flags finally be functional on a majority of tracks, and not just the blue flag at Le Mans... 2- that session recording be finally offered and operational.
    As for the flags, I find they're really lacking, especially the yellow flag. You arrive at the final chicane at Silverstone 1975 to realize (a little late!) that a car is sideways and blocking the way. Even Crew Chief didn't tell you anything... and for good reason: he didn't know anything about it since yellow flags didn't exist yet. It's a real shortcoming and takes away from the immersion quite a bit. Session recording is already available on LMU, just as it was with rFactor2. I'm not saying it's a simple feature, but it's really useful, even essential when you're doing long races (endurance). It's all the more annoying since it's already partially available on AMS2... But yes, when you're racing in a championship, the sessions are already recorded: if you leave after qualifying, when you return to the championship a few days later, AMS2 doesn't require you to redo qualifying for that round... The results are recorded and define the starting grid for the next race. Of course, I'd like more than that, but since it's already partially available, why not extend it to all "race weekends" and not just the championship?
    There you go, I'm not asking for more, even though I wouldn't balk at a well-designed and attractive career mode. Once these gaps are filled, you will have the green light to start offering us car/track combos that will make the competition cry... by the way, when will Dijon and the Jaguar Group C (and the Lancia Group C while we're at it!) be coming?

    Hi everyone,

    I hope it’s okay to reach out with a few suggestions and a minor issue that I've noticed while playing over the past few months. I'm a huge fan of your game and have invested nearly 400 hours into it. I want to wish the entire team a wonderful rest of the year and continued success!

    Here are my requests that I would like to put up for discussion:

    Feature Requests
    • Full Online Lobbies with AI Backfill We would like to be able to start an online race with a full field of AI opponents (e.g., 32). When a human player joins the lobby, they should automatically replace one of the AI opponents, ensuring the grid is always full.
    • Larger Online Player Count It should be possible to have up to 48 drivers in an online race. The maximum number of human players could be 32, with the remaining spots up to 48 being filled by AI. This would create a properly full grid on many tracks, which is now possible with modern PCs and internet connections.
    • Public Steam Beta Channel for Testing A Steam beta channel already exists, but it's restricted to special club members. We would like a public beta test channel for the game, accessible to all players. This would allow everyone to test experimental features that aren't yet stable. For example, the current maximum number of vehicles in single-player mode is 48. In this beta test channel, this limit could be increased to 60 or 70. Modern PCs can handle this, and players would have to explicitly opt into this mode, so it wouldn't affect the main game. This would give all players, especially those with powerful PCs, a chance to get more out of the game.
    • Full Host Rights for Server Hosting When hosting a server, the lobby host should have full control and be able to kick players without a vote. Currently, a vote is always required, which is inconvenient when the host wants to remove a player immediately.
    AI Vehicle Class Distribution Issue
    We've noticed a problem when selecting LMDh and GT3 cars together online and filling the grid with AI opponents. For example, when 30 AI opponents are selected, there are usually only five LMDh cars and 25 GT3 cars. This is too large of an imbalance. We would like the distribution of vehicle classes to be more balanced, as is the case with other classes. This appears to be a bug that needs to be fixed.

    In addition to my feature requests, I have an idea for the forum itself: How about a regular poll for new features? The admins or moderators could select the best suggestions from all feature requests (e.g., the top 10 or 50) and let the community vote on them. The most voted features could then be implemented by the development team, if possible. This would involve the community even more and enrich the development of the game.

    I hope these suggestions are well-received and feasible to implement. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on whether these ideas will be considered.

    - Pressing a button shows what that buttons is currently bound to

    Based on Game Build: 1.6.8
    Request: Better scroll wheel behaviour in menus
    Description: Scrolling through menus like the control ones with the scroll wheel jumps up and down since your cursor will select an options while you are scrolling, yet the scroll wheel doesnt move the menu, but the options.
    My suggestions are either:
    - Make the scroll wheel not change the selected option, just scroll the list
    - Require a lot more movement of the cursor to pick up the active option where it points.

    Request: Allow to bind keys for menu navigation for custom wheels
    Description: Currently doesn't appear to be options for it yet with the G29 I think I could navigate the menus (currently Simagic GT Neo) and you can with a controller.

    Request: Waiting for grid menu: option to hide
    Description: If the race starts in wet track conditions but no rain you might want to see how wet the track is to decide between dry or wet tyres. Currently you can only look at the track at the borders of the menu, since 90% of the center is hidden.

    also a filter to exclude races in progress would be nice or a sort option on race status to go stright to unlocked races in practice/qualify.

    More filters for Multiplayer lobbies. I do NOT want to see 10 class multiclass 24 hour practice sessions at Nurburgring anymore.

    Currently the options are Multiclass, Any, or literally all available classes in the game. There needs to be an option for Same Class and Identical.

    With career mode in the works, I just want to take moment to mention one thing all sims afaik do wrong and I would love to see AMS2 tackle that better.

    So in most racing game career modes you become the driver, choose the championships and then jump through the weekends of your championship. But honestly, that's not how the career of many of racedrivers is. Many drive in multiple leagues in the same year. So it would be amazing if you can not only join one league, but being able to join multiple at the same time where the timetables don't cross. On top we have teams who use guestdrivers as fillins or additional drivers for endurance races, so it would also be amazing if the career is based on race weekends that you could take offers for standalone races you can participate as a guest or rented drivers.

    I would like a switch so that the AI uses my pit strategy. I'm thinking of making it mandatory (where possible) to use two types of rubber compounds (soft, hard) in a race. It would also be nice if the AI could also come out of the pits on cold tires if tire warmers are not allowed!

    This was probably already suggested but I think it would add to immersion if the AI had more DNFs - in most races all of them finish which is not often the case in reality.
    Besides that they recover too fast from crashes / spinning out and barely take any damage. When I spin I go from P4 to P19 - they spin and go from P5 to P7. :eek:

    AI reliability is something you can tweak yourself with CustomAI file. Check the F1 Season 2012 skinpack, it gives you more AI DNFs to reflect IRL races. F1 Season 1995 to follow soon after ;)

    This is such a cool idea. Like you have a calendar and can see how you can fit in different race seat contracts. Missing races makes it harder to win titles and therefore progress but you also have to eat so may need to take drives elsewhere up until if you make it to F1.

    With corresponding official multiplayer race events with the same track and car/car class.

    MAYBE people can't enter the weekly official online lobby until they have lapped the weekly time trial at a certain time? Could have more than one tier so the very fastest go with the very fastest etc? Could be a way to filter out the time wasters
