It might have been smart to live by this and simply let your "body of work" speak for itself.

You have released well received mods and had built a good reputation. But these posts I'm afraid come across as remarkably arrogant. There is no need to belittle others work in an attempt to defend your own. That is likely to be counterproductive - it is more likely to tarnish your reputation rather than your targets.

 

I believe your post is not negative, but what i meant was making it hard to drive (IMO what brutal could mean). My question is if you actually mean i cant take your TT setups or are you joking?

 

Fully agreed. Some of Richard's posts, even after the one you mention, seem very constructive and useful. Let's hope the discussion remains like that and doesn't devolve back into a screaming match.

 

To be perfectly clear I did not mean that as downplaying steelreserv at all, because his input has been crucial to the late physics developments that as far as I can see have been widely received positively. Despite how the conversation between you two did not go well he is still a key man in the process since late 2021. But I see your point about years of experience, it's very important in any field.

On a more universal note we do not go around crediting a single member of the physics dev team for development A or B. Sometimes Renato likes to do that as he does to people outside physics as well. In this case it's warranted for steelreserv in case it's unclear that he's valuable and knowledgeable.

 

You are correct, and i surely didnt want to sound arrogant in any way. I never said that what i did was "better" than anything else, or even anything reiza did. When i mentioned that, was in response to the insinuation that somehow i ignored important aspects of the cars when doing my work.

Nothing is perfect, and certainly me and my work are not either.

 

You need to wind your neck in rather than going after people on forums in personal attacks. If you have something valuable to contribute, then PM the guy, rather than trying to belittle him on these boards. So far, you are coming across very negatively. I'll put it down to two guys being passionate about the same things, but from a different point of view.
But please be more aware of your personal digs at people.
I hope you both can reconcile differences and discuss things properly.

 

edit: Since my post was deleted, i will refrain from saying much on the matter, but i dont think you should assume how i go about doing my modding work or the knowledge that i have. You yourself admitted you didnt even knew who i am before, so don't make assumptions about me or anybody you dont know, or whose work you dont know.

I will not reply to you again, because it seems the exchange always go into personal attacks, no matter what, so i see no point in that. I rather "talk to the manager" as they say.

I'm all for critizising the game and discussing issues, and knowledgeable people with experience like yourself are even more welcome to do so, but don't be insulting others and then turn around an play the victim.

What have you modded? Genuine question as I don't know who you are.

 

In the last few years, mostly ams1 stuff. You can find some of them in racedeparment, if you search for this name Richard Wilks, in AMS1 cars. Latest work included the full CART 1987 mod, and the new version of F1 1986 historic edition. The BMW M1 procar is about to get a latest update.

CART 1988 was a mod i did a few years ago, even for rf1, hence my avatar, and it got some atention back in the day.

 

The response from Reiza staff in this thread strikes me as odd. I work in BI for a multi-national tech company. If i have multiple people telling me there's a problem with one of my projects, I take that very seriously. I investigate, I ask them questions and we figure it out. The last thing i do is search for reasons why i dont have to listen to them (as saying 'if you believe the PC2 version of a car is good then there's nothing for you here').

This thread didnt have to be 14 pages of arguing. Someone from Reiza simply stepping in and saying 'we take your concerns seriously and will investigate' would have been sufficient for me at least. Richard's concerns in the OP have been voiced many times across reddit/youtube/and this forum, its not like he said anything new.

If the answer is 'we make the physics the way we want to, and dont care what you think' then just say that. That would be disappointing but understandable at least. You guys are the developers and are free to make the game any way you want.

Ive invested a lot of time and money into AMS 2. When everything clicks, it's outstanding. Unfortunately, my experience is often uneven due in large part to the issues Richard brought up. I come to this forum to get a sense of the future direction of the game and whether or not its worth more of my time and money. I feel threads like this could be handled much better.

The point is physics threads dont need to devolve to unproductive arguments. But when someone points out some criticisms and the response from staff is arguments and dismissals then its pretty obvious which direction the discussion will go.

First part about the brutal thing I just mean that the car is very hard to master because it feels like it tries to "kill" you if you doesnt concentrate 100%.
No relaxing time - at least if you wanna go warp-ish
