Troubleshooting - Automobilista 2

    I deleted everything related to AMS2 from my PC and performed a clean install, but when I tested it, the image kept freezing while the sound continued playing in the background.

    I uninstalled everything related to the G27 and ran the test again, launching AMS2 without the G27 connected, but the image still freezes. It actually freezes even faster now, whereas it used to take a few minutes, now everything freezes within seconds of getting on the track. I believe the fact that it didn't crash when I ran this test previously without the G27 installed was just a coincidence.
    I tested PCARS2 (and other simulators), and it runs smoothly without any issues, the problem is specific to AMS2.

    I don't know what else to do. Others are reporting the same issue on Reddit and the Steam forums, so all that's left is to wait and see if Reiza looks into the problem.

    Hi,

    I've checked Steam and the AMS Reddit for similar problems but can't find any. Can you check if you have something set in your command-line launch options in AMS2? If so, please remove the line.

    I am still leaning towards a mod conflict. If you delete the game via Steam, it usually doesn’t delete the entire folder when there are still mods or other files in it. Thus, you have to delete the folder manually as well. Also, check SimHub or any other external program that might conflict with AMS2.

    So, I’ve never used the command line. I did use the IndyCar mod back in earlier versions of AMS2, but I haven't used any mods for months (I uninstalled the IndyCar one when it stopped working after an AMS2 update). I’ve never used the career mod, just skin packs I download from Overtake, like the ones for IndyCar '95, F-USA '23, and NASCAR, no other modifications, just skins.

    Technically skin packs are also modifications, please remove them as well. Also I've browsed the urls you gave me; One person suggested whitelisting the AMS2avx.exe. Perhaps your anti-virus doesn't play nicely with the new exe. or Disable fullscreen optimization.

    Keep in mind every PC is different and there are so many variables why this issue for you surfaced after the update. Perhaps an application or a driver updated and is causing issues for you, especially with AMS2.

    I removed everything, actually, I uninstalled AMS2, deleted the folder, and then downloaded and reinstalled it via Steam.

    I'm going to try adding the .exe to the exceptions list and also disabling the AI pit crew; one of the threads mentioned that this also causes the screen to freeze when the AI enters the pits.

    I hope one of those solutions helps. Also perhaps disable Steam or/and Nvidia overlay, for AMS2.

    I GIVE UP!

    I’ve already done everything suggested here and elsewhere online, short of formatting the computer. But the problem lies with AMS2, not the computer, and I’m not going to go through the hassle of formatting and reinstalling so many things just because of this glitch. It’s a real shame!

    And it's not the G27; the previous issue was just a coincidence. I’ve already uninstalled everything related to the G27, but when I launch AMS2 without the steering wheel just to test it, the screen freezes.

    I am really sorry. Seems you tried every suggestion, and everything what could be a solution. However, there's one more thing you could try and that's unplugging everything (/ disable bluetooth) from your computer, except your keyboard or/and mouse. I've heard some devices, like a controller, can cause issues as the USB cable or the PCB-board is damaged or sending extra data, which AMS2 doesn't like, but isn't an issue with other games you play.

    Another thing that may or may not contribute could be to try turning off UDP frequency and Shared Memory in System Settings tab of the ingame options menu.

    I did that, I disabled everything, swapped the mouse and used only that one, but the problem persisted.

    It's already disabled by default, and I verified that it was indeed disabled.


    There's nothing to be done, maybe it will work again in a future update, unfortunately.
