Holding of on purchasing AMS2 until support for this is added!

iRacing, AC and ACC all have pretty good support for it. Curved ultrawides are getting more and more common in simracing.

A basic panini projection can be done in a post processing shader: Shadertoy

I implemented it myself as simple mod for AC. Perspective correction for curved monitors

If AC has it, why did you need to do a mod?

AC has no built in support, but a mod that works fine. It's a 10 year old game, I understand that they don't add new features to it.

As far as I know it's not possible to mod in custom post processing passes in AMS2, so it's probably something the devs need to add.

    I hope they do!

Was just asking about AC because of what you said in original message.

It's not going to happen any time soon. The rendering issues, which may or may not include this one, are on deck for 2024. That means starting them in 2024, not finishing in 2023.

    Just bumping this for visibility!

    The Pannini Projection

It's currently possible to do with Reshade and this, but it's clunky and also warps the UI.

Is there any official word if there are plans for this? it would be a great feature to have.

Have you guys tried headless ghost display port? In theory they would mimic real monitors, allowing you to use the native triple screen settings in AMS2.

I've not tried this, but it was something I considered before when I was using a single ultrawide.

Is 32:9 now and option in AMS2 since the 1.6 update ?
I am looking at buying a Super Ultrawide 49inch Acer Predator OLED 240hz screen.
Would it still be worthwhile at a good price even if AMS2 does not support this screen res ratio ?

The 32:9 resolutions are supported and working BUT it's distorted as AMS 2 has only one viewport so the view to the side is stretched / distorted.

A good solution would be to implement more viewports e.g. triple screen support also on 1 physical screen like in ACC, Race Room or Euro Truck Simulator 2.
Unfortunately there is no information if it's worked on.

I was able to get this working BUT with some UI bugs.

    I’m using a 57” Neo G9 Ultrawide (7680x2160):

    • In Documents/Automobilista 2/graphicsconfigdx11.xml set the width and height to a multiple of your resolution. I did 1.2x to help combat the projection correction pixelation. (11520x3240)
    • Make sure the Windowed line is set to 2
    • Install Reshade with the PerfectPerspective shader (you can select it from the list during the install)
    • Install a tool like Lossless Scaling to assist in resizing the window without losing the new detail
    • Launch the game and use Reshade to set the PerfectPerspective settings to ADVANCED_MENU 1, AXIMORPHIC_MODE 1, MIPMAPPING_LEVEL 4, FOV to your curved monitor fov (use a calculator and make sure the in-game cockpit fov is set as well), FOV type horizontal, Horizontal profile and Vertical profile to 0.50 k
    • Set a hotkey to enable/disable Reshade
    • Launch Lossless Scaling, choose Custom > Scale factor 1 > Scaling Type 1 and set your hotkey to enable
    • Set Resize before Scaling to On
    • Go back to the game and use the LS hotkey to enable it, and it should shrink your game window back into your monitor bounds
    • Launch into a race and use your Reshade hotkey to enable the PerfectPerspective script
Now for the caveats — occasionally I couldn’t click on UI elements due to Lossless Scaling bugs. It happened about a third of the time.
With the Reshade shader on, it will deform the UI elements. I’m seeing if I can force it to skip that layer and will post results if I have success.

Ultimately this method let me get a great looking projection corrected view on my monitor. The performance impact is large, but you can still hit 100+ FPS with a 4090 and most settings on high. It’s not a graceful setup and a pain in the butt to use the UI.

It would be great for the game to support render scale within the options to remove the need and jankiness from tools like Lossless Scaling. It would also be awesome to have the shader available within the game, similar to ACC.

Or let us use the triple screen tools to render 3 viewports to our single display. If it’s an engine limitation, at least the shader approach works.
