I'm not aware of any such problems, maybe cause I'm new to Meta (used Reverb G2 in the past). At my end the combo "Quest 3 @ Firmware v59 + OpenComposite + OpenXR Tookit + Virtual Desktop 1.29.7 @ VDXR" is working like a charm.

Not sure why other people are struggling getting it working, I'll try to summarize the environment at my end (potentially not all points do matter, but that's what I have):

    1. From my Reverb G2 times I have an OpenComposite.ini in my "steamapps\common\Automobilista 2\x64"-folder with content:
    admitUnknownProps=true
    2. I replaced the original openvr_api.dll (~238 KB) inside that x64-folder with its OpenComposite counterpart (~1851 KB).
    3. Oculus app is installed, but "Oculus OpenXR" is NOT my active Runtime. SteamVR + VirtualDesktopXR are active. VDXR is selected as "OpenXR Runtime" in the VD Streamer.
    4. I'm launching AMS2 from Games inside VD App or via Desktop shortcut of the SteamVR version (steam://launch/1066890/vr) after VD App is up and connected to my PC. I'm not launching AMS2 from SteamVR.

With those steps, when displaying the VD Performance overlay it shows "VDXR" as runtime and that is noticably faster than the "SteamVR" runtime.

    Wow
Thanks very much for the details

I hadn’t seen anywhere yet that this opencomposite drama was not affecting VD users

again much appreciated the heads up

ps this drama has forced me to launch the game with oculusvr instead of steam VR and I don’t know if that’s a placebo but it runs quite smooth and perfect are also good

I recently upgraded from a 5600x to a 5600x3d and I did some quick benchmarking before and after the install.

    Headset: Quest 3
72 FPS with max super sampling Oculus will allow
Full grid against AI at Spa in the daytime, each "block" is 2 laps. Each cpu has 4 laps of data.

I am still GPU Limited with my current settings with maybe a 5% performance headroom according to the Oculus overlay with both headsets, but the 5600x3d definitely smoothed out the game for me. A lot fewer stutters which you can see from the frame time graph.

VDXR only a couple of weeks old, but doesn't help with my Rift S unfortunately

I've been away from AMS2 for a few months. Just jumped back in, strapped on the Index, launched a race and the framerate absolutely tanked as soon as I got to the pre-race start menu. Same when I started the race. Performance was perfect beforehand. The sim is updated and Steam / Steam VR are up-to-date and I've chanched nothing in the SteamVR video and application settings which remain as I last had them. I haven't updated the NV driver yet (3090 series) as I've no issues elsewhere. Before I start going down a rabbit hole, has anything untoward happened with regards AMS2's VR performance of late, that I need to be aware of?

    Many thanks.

Coming from Quest 2 I can’t say I have experienced anything untoward. I have been tweaking more recently my VR setttings but nothing out of the ordinary other than using VRPerfKit.
    Maybe some others feel differently.

WELL, I take this all back, because I just happened to 'update' my NVIDIA drivers(as you do), and My HUD customisation has now returned to the broken state it was two months ago, lol. o_O

I used the gamepad controller method to get most of it back, but the desktop instruments HUD is now much larger than it was. Editing the size of this nearest pane in VR, also doesn't translate to the monitor desktop.

Yesterday after setting a good time in qualifying I had time to watch the AI and realized again how absolutely great the VR trackside cams are. Now I was wondering if it would be possible to "walk around" the track as a spectator using VR teleportation? Would this involve a lot of effort?

If you reduce your monitor resolution setting in VR mode (you don't need a full resolution on your monitor whilst in VR), then you make the hud area onscreen in VR smaller. This means you can't always grab the elements to move them. Set your monitor resolution to its native resolution and then adjust your VR Hud elements. You can also reduce the size and, X, Y, Z placement of the overall hud screen by using the keypad keys -see the help menu on the Hud screen.

    Hello good,
I have started using quest 2 again after a year, with: Virtualdesktop with its VDXR runtime + opencomposite. When I enter the game, the scale of the world feels unreal (too close and the car too small), and if I move my head it's like my FOV is super off. This had never happened to me, every time I had entered AMS2, compared to the scale of the world it had always felt super natural.

Do you know what it could be?

Edit: I deleted the documents folder and now it seems to work fine xD

You can always adjust world scale with OpenXR Toolkit if you like

Any word on if they are going to fix the "live update elements" hud popup? It's so freaking annoying. You disable the HUD, yet it still pops up when you make brake bias or traction control changes. When I select "no HUD" I mean NO HUD. please I've been asking for this to be fixed for literally 4 years now

You do know there's a world scale setting in the option screen where you adjust seating position.

Returned my 2nd Pimax Crystal. I spent more time messing with it trying to get it to work right than actually using it. They didn't fix the audio sync with the update. The update also made it so I had to spend a minute or so press on/off trying to get it to connect to the PC. My eye tracking started to not get recognised. etc What a pain in the arse headset. Now just wait a month for Amazon to refund me and hopefully see what a Somnium VR1 looks like.

OpenXR overlay Ctrl+F2 is not showing.
MetaQuest3 with PCLink(USB cable) running... ( set by default OpenXR ).
    I installed OpenXR, and composite.
In OpenXR, I cannot See any gamelist.
in composite, I see AMS2 in configure.

    • start up process.
    1. Trun on pc, and MQ3.
    2. Activate Oculus PC ink.
    3. Check AMS2 is set to OpenXR in composite.
    4. Run AMS2 with SteamVR mode in steam.
After running AMS2 with steamVR, I can see there's no steamVR running.
However, I cannot see the overlay, CTRL+F2.
    Help me please.

Terrible VR performance after the update. 7800x3d + 3080 + 64 GB ram.

Even if I set everything to the lowest settings, and even set the steam resolution to 30% it still won't achieve 90 fps stable. everything was fine before the update

I'm noticing some stuttering every now and then now after the update.
