If you have an Xbox controller, try using it to set up the HUD (I read somewhere that this stopped working, but did not try again since the last update; it was the simplest way to adjust the HUD given an Xbox controller is available.)

Not sure about the SimHub ones; I've never used them, but the Pimax way of pinning different windows on top of VR works really well. Use the Pimax controller menu button, and you will find there a way to add it)

Xbox gamepad still works but annoyingly ever since the new hud was added the gamepad cursor disappeared so it is much more difficult now to click and hold on the correct thing you want to move.

Once you have it is fine but until then it is just so much more of a headache.

Not got a Pimax but do use the SteamVR driver. You need to go into the SteamVR start up page and disable all the Pimax bits you don't want.

Im using the sboy3 driver with Evo, a word of warning there was a firmware update for my Crystal light, it took 4 attemps to apply it, i had tp pause my antivirus software.
I got lucky my headset is ok and runs great with the sboy3 driver.

I watched a couple of videos on this last night.

I don't use Virtual Desktop, I've stuck with the Meta Link Software and then tweaked using Oculus Tray Tool or OculusDebugTool. In general I don't seem to have suffered some of the bigger issues that others have with Meta Link on USB C although it's had it's moments.

I couldn't work out from the videos whether you'd get much out of this other than a different interface if your Meta Link with Tray Tool/DebugTool was working correctly?

Do you get things like better Codecs for the video that aren't available using Meta Link? Performance wise I don't really have too many issues that aren't usually fixed with a windows restart.

Yes, you do get better codecs like HEVC and AV-1 in 10bit colors. These are great for many apps, but for racing I stay with H.264+ as it provides the best latency and the least artifacts on the tarmac right in front of the car.
More importantly though, you can select higher video resolution ("Godlike"). The Meta link app tops out at a max video resolution below the Quest 3's native resolution. You can still render the game at higher resolutions, but it will be downsampled into the video for transmission, and then upsampled on the device to match the screen resolution. Virtual Desktop allows for video transmission at native display resolution (and beyond), making the picture quite a bit sharper. This requires decent hardware though.
The other major advantage is just the convenience. You don't have to fiddle with Tray Tool or debug tool, you can adjust all these settings from an easy to use menu while within the headset. The user experience is just more seamless and intuitive. Once set up, just start the VD app on the headset and off you go.
I haven't used Meta link in a while, so not sure if they improved any of this by now. But when I switched to VD about 18 months ago, it was a game changer compared to Link both in terms of streaming quality and usability.

As a long time wired Meta Link user I'm moving over to Virtual Desktop because Meta's software bugged out months ago and I can't set bitrates over about 300mbps, otherwise it becomes a stuttery mess. Meta Link was rock-solid for years via Quest 2 & Quest 3 for me. Performance tanked about V83 and it's now obvious that it'll never be fixed.

I've tried multiple times with VD but I can't achieve the same level of clarity and sharpness I did with Meta Link. For me, Meta Link's sharpening (Normal & Quality) are leaps and bounds ahead of what VD can offer.

I'm running like-for-like resolutions on Quest 3 and using VD via ethernet to USBC adapter at 500mbps.

Just wondering if people could share their VD sharpening settings? I feel like I've tried every single combination of sharpening methods available including headset sharpening slider, additional sharpening in streamer, SGSR on/off, tweaking .xml files, CAS sharpening in OXR toolkit/opencomposite and even QGO's FCAS & MQSR sharpening filters. Nothing so far has come close to the clarity of Meta Link's sharpening methods (I use normal sharpening in Meta Link).

I'd love to see what settings VD people are using. While VD is great, I've never found the sharpening sweet spot for simracing and despite my best efforts, it's always been blurrier (especially distant objects) compared to Meta Link.

I'm disappointed that during the redesigning and updating of the new HUD no effort was made to accommodate VR users and fix issues with the VR HUD that have been around for years.
Cmon guys, give us some love. At least make the hud layer curved if nothing else
