I'm really excited about a product (Varjo Aero) that I can't buy/afford.
I bet AMS2/PCars2 will look stunning in that headset, every preview through the lens video I've seen is visually mind blowing. It feel like this is the level of VR we've all been waiting for.

Let's hope HP, Valve and other companies bring other challengers to the market with the same resolution soon.

 

Finally ordered a G2. Waiting for delivery. Hopefully it was the right decision...

 

AMD FSR gave me some headroom with my 2070s and the G2. At least the recent tests I did were promising (using render scale 0.77 and 50% SteamVR Resolution).

Still need to tweek some settings, especially as some things are still very blurry.

 

Anyone know how to get rid of shadow flickering? I am running quest 2 on gtx 1070. I'd also appreciate any tips on improving anti aliasing performance as well.

 

1 easy way is to turn shadows off.

 

Anyone else having performance issues tonight in vr? I have not changed any settings but tonight was horrendous so switched off. I had a complete stutter fest

yes unfortunately I confirm what you wrote, performance worsened. I thought they were the Nvidia drivers that I reinstalled and instead nothing. we hope for a patch as soon as possible.

 

Made the switch no to a G2. Impressive display in comparison to my former oculus rift. Setup is a little bit confusing.

Any idea why there is always the message popping up saying Autom. is not a vr game. When i click further it will start anyhow. Also in steam vr settings the game is not in the list to create a specific setup for the game. Any support will be welcome.

 

@paddler how do you start the game?
I had to create links for my sims into WMR cliffhouse. Also you need the WMR / SteamVR link software, should be available in steam (maybe the first thing you should check).

 

Thx! I think I did that but also there, AMS was not on the list of Steam VR games??? Is it because its the BETA AMS2? I usually start the game from within Steam.

The Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR thing is the application i mentioned.
Think my WMR recognized my VR games after that and I could select and pin them to a location in the WMR cliff house (but don't remember the exact steps)

Very strange. My BETA does not get recognized as a VR game! So I can't import it to the Cliff House... When I start it from Steam, a message comes up telling me that AMS is not a VR game and after a click it starts but the screen gets mirrored on my PC screen (is that normal?). If anyone can help thanks!

My (not installed) AMS2 is listed as VR Game in Steam, but not my ASM2 Beta. All very strange....
And the Oculus App is always starting up as well when starting a VR game.

 

I believe one executes with AVX extentions on the CPU and the other doesn't. The AVX one is supposed to be more efficient/faster but generates more heat.

For G2 owners (old and new), I updated my settings doc here which hopefully helps you - AMS VR G2 Settings

2 options I've settled on:

1. Run at 90fps (as per doc settings - my preference) and turn down SS% for really heavy night/rain (until @Renato Simioni and gang fix the headlights killing frames thing, which I understand is being looked at... crosses fingers!) or...
2. Run at 45fps (reprojection forced on) by amending the following:
- Change SteamVR per-app setting to 'Disabled' and change in-VR WMR Motion smoothing setting to 'Motion Vector' (preffered by @Mike Evans) - you can probably dial up the SS and/or in-game settings for this in all but night/wet again.

Welcome any feedback and ideas for improvement.... it's an ongoing mission getting this thnig dialled in with the fun that is WMR/SteamVR but a thing of beauty once you do!

 

In my G2, if i start steam vr, i will be shown a mountain range instead of the steam vr panel with all the apps. What can i do to access the panel? > solved!

…and my AMS2 Beta still is not shown as an VR game. Message pops up that ist not supported by VR but then i can access anyhow. But i am not able to access space spec. config page within steam vr for that game.
