I think I've tried it all and can't seem to resolve the minor stutters I get in VR with my current setup. Regardless of track(sometimes happens more on certain tracks than others) this happens every multiple times on each lap. Solid 72fps and then I will notice a slight stutter and will see the fps drop to 70 or 69.

    System:

    Asrock B760 Pro RS WiFi
    Intel Core i7-14700K
    Zotac GeForce RTX 5080
    G.SKILL TZ/RJ/FX DDR5 6400 C32 2x16GB
    NVME install
    SimHub with two bass shakers
    Moza Wheel

    Virtual Desktop Streamer Settings:
    Ultra
    80FPS
    200 Bitrate
    H.264 Codec

I can occasionally get a stutter free session for 10-15 minutes after an initial boot up and load straight into game. When it does run without a stutter, it's amazing. Just can't seem to keep it that way. Does anyone know why?

    **********RESOLVED**********
I have two routers a TP-Link C9 and an ArcherAXE5400. Quest 3 & PC connect to the Archer, everything else runs through the C9.

I had to change all channels on the C9 2.4 and 5G to channels less used in my vicinity. I also disabled the 2.4 &5G on the Archer.

There were new Nvida drivers today and I also got a Meta update but I don't think they resolved the issue.

I'll keep testing but so far, I can rock 72fps without ever dropping or seeing a stutter.

I hope this will help others out there. Check the wifi channels!!!!! I thought I was good cause of the wifi 6 and no network issues in overlay display when testing.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear you're experiecing stuttering. Can you check a few things for me:

    1. Is Pit Crew (in graphics) set to Player All? Please set it to Player only or off.
    2. Is UPD selected in Shared Memory? If yes, please turn it off.
    3. Is LoD Fade (also in graphics) on or off? If it is on, please consider turning it off if it helps in VR.
    Thank you very much.

    Hey Marius! Thanks for responding.

I'm all in to help and provide feedback/success/findings.

1.Pit Crew is set to Player Only already
    2. UPS is turned on ( I use SimHub for baseshakers and disabling will turn it off)
    3.LoD is set to NO

I will confirm if I set #2 to off on the UDP shared data then I have almost no drop in FPS.

I just ran a quick test as I have thought this stuttering comes from my SimHub UDP setup.

Ran 3 different tracks to test(Guapore, Taruma, Watkins Glen GP)
I can confirm with UDP off then I would get 1 drop every other lap of 1 fps which was hardly noticeable (72-71fps) and running smooth as can be.

This means no SimHub and bass shakers which sucks. Anyway we can fix this? I'll try anything as I need those rumble strips in my life!

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me. If you switch the shared memory to pCars 2, SimHub should continue working, and I believe the bass shakers will function as well. Since I'm also using SimHub and rumble haptics on my pedals, I can confirm that you can safely turn off UPD and just rely on shared memory.

That being said, it might be a good idea to check out this thread on the Reiza Studios forum: VR Discussions, Questions & Feedback. There are a lot of VR users there who could offer helpful insights. I’m not a VR user myself, but the community there is quite knowledgeable.

Getting rid of UPD and reducing stutters is already a step in the right direction! Hopefully, things will smooth out further as you fine-tune your VR setup.

Thanks for the help Marius. The only way I can eliminate the frequent stutter is by going this route. When I do set Use Shared Memory to "No" it kills my SimHub connection but eliminates the rumble effects.

I don't see or know a way around it.

Ideally, you want SimHub and your bass shakers to work. I totally understand that. What I would recommend is enabling shared memory (Project Cars 2) and connecting a monitor, if possible, to see if you experience stutters while playing on the monitor.

Next, I would try running another sim with SimHub active and check whether the game stutters in VR or on the monitor.

Also, take note of all your VR settings, computer specifications, and any other relevant details, then post them in the VR topic I shared earlier. There are a lot of experienced VR users there who can offer advice.

Finally, start with the graphics settings on low and gradually increase them one by one until you start noticing stutters. Experiment with anti-aliasing options like MSAA, TAA, and supersampling within the game, and check if adjusting driver settings helps. I’m confident the VR community can guide you in the right direction. Every computer setup is different, and sometimes the solution is as simple as an USB hub is not up the snuff.

Been working on this and feel like I narrowed it down to what I was worried it would be.

It's got to be VDS. I can get some instances where I'll get after a fresh reboot or startup(not always) a good 5-10 minutes where framerate stays locked in at 72fps. If I end that session and start AMS 2 up again, or leave track and go back is usually when it starts up. It does start after a certain amount of time as well and happens on every track. What is certain, when this starts it is a 20 second stutter. I can sit in one spot and every 20 seconds it will stutter and drop 1-3 frames.

I installed and ran PC2 and it does the exact same 20 second stutter.

I've tried closing out of simhub and end all processes - still get 20 second stutter

I've set AMS 2, Simhub, VDS all to high priority. - still get 20 second stutter.

I have run low in medium and still get 20 second stutter.

I thought perhaps it was SimHub and AMS 2 but I think this is a Virtual Desktop issue. I get the best graphics and performance (minus this stutter) from VDS, not sure where one goes from here but I'm committed on trying to resolve this and hope it helps others.

Thanks again for your help Marius. Posting this in the other thread as well.
