Thanks. I'm planning to buy an AMD 7 7800X3Dx and a Nvidia 40XXT-TI. I'm not sure which one it will be. But I'm hijacking this topic.

The total cost of the most powerful VR machine is high, and even for me it was a bit difficult decision to make. The PSU failure sped things up in my head, since I figured I need to change the approach to my hobby. I am a real car enthusiast, and virtual sim racing is a world I would never have entered without such a technology. Some years ago I bought a sports car thinking a bit naively I would take it to the race tracks. For 3 years it never happened. Full time businesses and family obligations fulfilled my time / calendar. Now, when my kids are more independent, and the family is less absorbing I can enjoy cars and tracks I would never visit in my life. And even if I bought the sports car back again, it wouldn’t change anything.

So I decided to buy it nice and once, than twice.

Btw, if you are looking to a big improvement in VR don't forget RAM speed too....

More ram speed more smooth images.

Yes I’m aware of the specs. Bought my setup in 2017 and costed around the €3500 euro. I’m planning to use the same budget again. The thing that I keep is the case. All the rest will be swapped for new hardware inc. 32gb ram.

Hmmm, I have a 7800X3D, a rtx 4080, and a quest 3 - in iracing, it's the CPU that runs out of steam first. I'm not sure about in AMS2, because there's no on-screen display and it's awkward getting afterburner's to run in VR, and the game looks and runs great so I never bothered with it. But I'm just saying

That's with the oculus slider maxed to resolution, the settings juiced in nvidia's options, and the debug set to 1.3x supersampling with ASW disabled.

With the quest 3, it finally stopped looking like VR and became completely clean and crisp, like a monitor or something.

edit: for another "what it's worth", in ACC it's definitely the GPU that holds up the show, and I can never get that game to look like the cars aren't hovercraft while in VR, so I avoid it for the most part.

Totally the iRacing engine at fault here, whilst i wouldn't get AMD because of the AMDip, that CPU shouldnt be the limiting factor. iRacing need to fix there engine, they have the most money of any sim title, yet they sit on their ancient engine and just keep making bank!

As long of iRacings "slightly" updated NR2003 engine gives money in the bank then why should they change it?:D

I had a bad impression of ACC car’s physics and dynamics until I found a preset for my MOZA r9 and also play with dynamic damping

    will post it later

what? the game looks and runs great imho. Also amd is more fps at 1/3rd the power draw. Buying intel right now is irresponsible, tbh

Hey Kute Im about to create a 7800X3D and a RTX 4080 Super.
Mainly to run AMS2 in VR.
How satisfied are you with your similiar PC running VR?
Im discussing with myself if I should up a bit to the 7900X3D bud havent decided.
Before I saw Nvidias launch of the 4080 Super I was looking at the AMD RX 7900 XTX.
But too many was reporting that AMD was rather poo for VR.

Agree with the poor AMD GPU comment

tested a top tier 7900xtx for few days and it was disappointing as not significant improvement from my current rtx3080
