I got a Pimax Crystal last week and this game looks incredible in VR. What a great experience!

How’s your performance and your rig? I have Pimax 8k+ but I prefer my Quest 2 despite the lower FOV but I want everything at best graphics settings and fluid FPS even at night/rain. It’s even a challenge with my Quest2 although I have RTX4090 so how can you handle a Crystal?

daytime - everything on high. MSAA low. runs 90.

nighttime / rain - same old story. You basically need double the gpu power of daytime.

I guess it’s the headlights from the opponents that destroys performance. I wish reiza would address this somehow, because it’s a great aspect of the game.

Sparks look terrible in flat replays too, they’re struck up completely in the wrong way, more like a damaged cable with them casually exiting horizontally, than being struck up violently and vertically as they should be.

I have only one major wish for 1.5(since the rest will be good already probably): removed sparks or fixed sparks. They really ruin the VR experience.

I really don't understand that Reiza keeps them in the game in this broken state. They ruin the immersion and they add nothing to the game except irritation. Yes maybe nice for 2D/pancake racers(but not essential), but AMS2 got A LOT of VR users.

Not sure if I want them to get removed because I fear if that happens they will never come back again or get fixed in VR which would be sad… Fixing would be the best solution and maybe it isn’t that difficult but they need resources to have a look at the problem…

I think having the option to turn them on or off is the real best solution, then everybody wins.

Will AMS 2 work in VR with a GTX 1660 OC gpu and an AMD 5800x3d cpu?

Agree this would be the best option by far. If this is not possible ingame(for whatever reason), then they can maybe give us as VR users an "file" to override in the Automobilista 2 map to disable them. So one file that has the spark (default) and one override file that disables them.

With all formula cars, they cannot be missed. When you play Long Beach/Formula retro/classic/evening/night, the whole race is 100% ruined with them, that combination give an insane amount of sparks and they are all out of place in VR. If you only drive GT/road cars, then you only see them when you hit a guardrail. So you almost never see them in that case.

Yes, having sparks fixed/removed or an option to enable/disable is a must for VR. Haven't raced any of the formula cars since the update because of this. It creates such an unnatural feeling when they appear, it's as though I've drank a pint of harpic. o_O

Which other VR game/sim has the best implementation of sparks? Then Reiza could have a look at this, compare it with their own implementation and would have a better understanding of what it should look like and maybe this would help them when trying to fix it…

Assetto Corsa has the best sparks, not by default though, they come as a part of the extensive Content Manager utility.

I quite like how they are in rF2 they really have the appearance of white hot fiery embers. So in terms of the shader I think that's a good look to aim for. Aside from the visual effect which could definitely be improved, there seems to be an issue with how they are actually rendered in VR, they appear as if a flat object that's only being rendered in one eye, it's really jarring and pretty unpleasant.

We all know that the VR replays need some love from the devs. One thing that would be nice is ONE button to "HIDE EVERYTHING/ALL" in the HUD (VR TV-replay-cam). At the moment I always have to fiddle around to get ALL HUD-elements off the VR screen. Even if I click on the "hide" button there is still a lot of HUD left (overview, table - list of opponents...) which have to be deactivated on their own...

That is disturbingly unfortunate, and rather surprising considering the great vr performance and visuals...accept for the sparks....

I had seen them talk about fixing VR replays. Sounds like they are taking a lot of input from folks here on the forums on how to best accomplish this.

VR is the only way i play. I wouldn't mind using a monitor if i could see better but my vision is so bad, the only way i can really play and enjoy any sim these days is inside a VR headset.

They do car about VR, but they don’t need to answer to every complaint about issues with it. They have probably been reported been before and they want to fix them. Remember that, AFAIK, they don’t have someone who is a specialist in graphics

Honestly, I wonder. I’ve been trying to ask why the Oculus headsets won’t launch into SteamVR mode regardless of which launch version used for around 2 years, in multiple parts of the forum and even on the support forum. I’m not demanding a fix, or even a timeframe of when that might be done.
Just a simple acknowledgement from anyone on the staff or dev team saying yes we’re aware of it would be nice.
But not even an reply from anyone at Reiza to say yes we’ll get to it or no we can’t reproduce, or even something like so far down the list of priorities we can’t say when it might be fixed.
At this stage, even if someone from Reiza posted up and said look, the Oculus launch works so it’s likely we will never address this, would be fine. I could stop asking why this issue is there.
I’ve explained multiple times why a working SteamVR launch option for Oculus headsets would be beneficial (to be able to use OpenXR and OpenXR toolkit).
Just seems strange why the refusal to reply regarding this issue when usually Reiza are very forthcoming with engaging with us.

No, i find that most people get a bit irritated by being pinged, especially when they have a lot going on.
