Yes, having sparks fixed/removed or an option to enable/disable is a must for VR. Haven't raced any of the formula cars since the update because of this. It creates such an unnatural feeling when they appear, it's as though I've drank a pint of harpic. o_O

Which other VR game/sim has the best implementation of sparks? Then Reiza could have a look at this, compare it with their own implementation and would have a better understanding of what it should look like and maybe this would help them when trying to fix it…

Assetto Corsa has the best sparks, not by default though, they come as a part of the extensive Content Manager utility.

I quite like how they are in rF2 they really have the appearance of white hot fiery embers. So in terms of the shader I think that's a good look to aim for. Aside from the visual effect which could definitely be improved, there seems to be an issue with how they are actually rendered in VR, they appear as if a flat object that's only being rendered in one eye, it's really jarring and pretty unpleasant.

We all know that the VR replays need some love from the devs. One thing that would be nice is ONE button to "HIDE EVERYTHING/ALL" in the HUD (VR TV-replay-cam). At the moment I always have to fiddle around to get ALL HUD-elements off the VR screen. Even if I click on the "hide" button there is still a lot of HUD left (overview, table - list of opponents...) which have to be deactivated on their own...

That is disturbingly unfortunate, and rather surprising considering the great vr performance and visuals...accept for the sparks....

I had seen them talk about fixing VR replays. Sounds like they are taking a lot of input from folks here on the forums on how to best accomplish this.

VR is the only way i play. I wouldn't mind using a monitor if i could see better but my vision is so bad, the only way i can really play and enjoy any sim these days is inside a VR headset.

They do car about VR, but they don’t need to answer to every complaint about issues with it. They have probably been reported been before and they want to fix them. Remember that, AFAIK, they don’t have someone who is a specialist in graphics

Honestly, I wonder. I’ve been trying to ask why the Oculus headsets won’t launch into SteamVR mode regardless of which launch version used for around 2 years, in multiple parts of the forum and even on the support forum. I’m not demanding a fix, or even a timeframe of when that might be done.
Just a simple acknowledgement from anyone on the staff or dev team saying yes we’re aware of it would be nice.
But not even an reply from anyone at Reiza to say yes we’ll get to it or no we can’t reproduce, or even something like so far down the list of priorities we can’t say when it might be fixed.
At this stage, even if someone from Reiza posted up and said look, the Oculus launch works so it’s likely we will never address this, would be fine. I could stop asking why this issue is there.
I’ve explained multiple times why a working SteamVR launch option for Oculus headsets would be beneficial (to be able to use OpenXR and OpenXR toolkit).
Just seems strange why the refusal to reply regarding this issue when usually Reiza are very forthcoming with engaging with us.

No, i find that most people get a bit irritated by being pinged, especially when they have a lot going on.

I think crimson gets more irritated if you keep pinging him. You can try ones and see what he says

Any of you know if the AMD VR patch for the 7900xtx improves Vr for the card?

I think he is referring to the latest AMD driver (23.7.1) which has indeed boosted the VR performance of 7000 series cards by a good amount. Not sure if this also applies to 6000 series cards.

Interesting. Does this bring performance of 7000 series cards in VR to anything like the equivalent NVIDIA card? Still no SPS I assume, so guessing not?

Cant say don't have a nvidia card to test. Mine does seem to be a fair bit faster then my friends 4070ti if that offers you any insight.

Yeah, More's law is dead recently had a guy on his Broken Silicon podcast that has a VR channel. He said there was apparently something with the 7000 series where it had poor VR performance, unlike (and regularly being beaten by) the 6000 series.

Maybe this patch might have fixed some of the issues?

I'm still running a 1080Ti for now , until the price performance comes to a point I like from either Nv or AMD.

I've just gone from a Quest 2 to a Pico 4. I can't quite believe how much better AMS2 looks. I have a 3080 and am running Virtual Desktop at Godlike resolution. Suddenly the somewhat muddy visuals (max Quest 2 resolution, 1.5x pixel density) have become sharp as you like. It's amazing. Can't believe it costs the same as the Q2. Highly recommended.
