Had to test the summer tyre rain physics IRL on my drive to work this morning.

    They still work...

Ah. Doesn’t explain why you just posted the date. Do you want the update to arrive before or on your birthday?

Yesterday I changed both RR and AMS2 Reshade setup to tame down the green channel a bit.
Both sims look much better that way. I hope I don't have something strange on my system that makes that green tint on games (my monitors are calibrated and present good colors everywhere else).
Because AMS2 also has a high contrast image, I also applied a little gamma and it makes it look alot better.
I also have some bloom effect to clip and spread the whites a bit, just like happens is real life.

    Before:

    After:
    upload_2024-9-5_11-57-26.png

My trajectory was more like "AMS2 seems to be the future, great and frequent developments, but I still 'hate it' for 'some reason'".
But rather than stay away, I insisted, I left my beloved rF2 and keep coming to ASM2 'for some reason'.

Cars are relutant to rotate, like the forces/grip on all tyres are auto-balanced to some degree. There are runway effects AMS2 fails to capture correctly. Also, and somehow connected, is that collisions often fail to transfer energy between cars, leading to some realy fake situations.
When/if this is solved, a brand new sim will be born.

Let them be!!! We need more sound layers, not less!
Sometimes lying is ok and sims need to lie a lot :D.
For example, rF2 has changeable speed of sound to allow for better, more pronounced Doppler effects. My brain doesn't detect fake, so that's ok for me.

While everyone here is waiting and looking forward to the update more than the next paycheck. What do you guys think, will the start/finish line on the Monza GP circuit be corrected at some point? In modern F1 races it is much closer to the pit entry

Please please please improve the in cockpit engine audio. That alone ruins my experience. The chase camera sounds for the cars are good enough, just pipe that into the cockpit please.

Holy cow, 340 messages since that Monday teaser. Excitement is in the air :)

These are indeed exciting times - myself and the whole team are just as excited now that the finish line is in sight and the result we´ve been striving for is within reach. We are every bit as anxious for release as all of you are, not only to share the results of several months of gruelling work, but also to wrap up a very demanding cycle and finally get the chance to unwind a bit.

With that said, a few words before this ellusive dev update is finally out at some point in the not so distant future - I was silly to put myself under the pressure of getting dev update out within a schedule already in the OP, and then again this weekend while I´m still in the middle of that development push because then I´m just stretching myself too thin to do any of part of it just right.

And the goal for everything this update is very much for it to be "just right" - and that includes whatever we publish about it. Up to now we seldom put ourselves under that pressure because that would be so constraining as to be counter-productive - we´d never be able to reach the stage we are at in the time we have, if we allowed ourselves to lose sight that "better" is also good - things needed to progress and be put together in gradual timely steps.

While good, even very good can be delivered on somewhat timely schedules, excellence is far harder to especially when you´re gunning for excellence in multiple fronts - and for AMS2 we very much feel it´s time to deliver all-around excellence, thus we´ll continue at it for however long that takes.

That has been the approach generally all through this dev cycle but as we come up the final stages it´s not unusual that in the mix of high strung excitement and sheer tiredness to take a few stumbles accross the line - we´ve certainly done that a few times, by our very nature and that of the project if not by its design.

We are trying our best to avoid that this time, and that´s why dev update isn´t published yet - I´m not happy with it yet, and I won´t until I am. It´s now surely a matter of days rather than weeks, just like release itself is a matter of weeks rather than months, but that as far as we´ll go with any schedule announcements from now until release.

So apologies to all for raising expectations for dev update a bit too soon - please try be patient and bare with us a little longer in these final few weeks - we are trying really hard to make it worth the wait :)

It takes as long as it takes, every update so far has been an improvement which in itself is impressive.

'and for AMS2 we very much feel it´s time to deliver all-around excellence,'

That's a very bold claim, let's hope you don't regret posting this too...
