Featured Automobilista 2 V1.6 Development Update - The New Cars

I have been a gamepad player for 15 years, tho I have switched to the wheel about 8-9 months ago.

I just had a quick go. Good old deadzone bug that I forgot how to circumvent made its ugly face shown again so I didn't have the immediacy of turning that I wanted to (this will not be a problem for people who don't have to switch between pad and wheel). However, with a gamepad the main difference to 1.5 is that all cars will feel significantly more planted, with the only exception being very quick direction changes (but to be expected honestly).

I have for a long time held the belief that gamepad physics in madness are not quite the same as wheel physics and that was confirmed by my test once again. There is less subtle car movement, less necessity for micro corrections and the correction that do happen have a bit more time.

That said, if you try to exploit the physics (which I ended up doing with the SuperV8) it will bite you. Within a relatively generous window of grip you will be fine and actually better off than with 1.5 (meaning the cars will be easier to control simply because they're not as easily breaking traction).

Cars tested were the Lambo Huracan GT3G2, SuperV8, F-RetroG1 and Sauber C9, so I didn't exactly make it easy for myself there

So to put it simplier, you could say its somekind or filter or presets like "Open Wheels" or "Classic Cars" ?
I thought it was external to the game, like a content manager that actually dont load what you dont want.

Sorry, I wasnt following all the discussion, but my undertanding is that the "Authentic" setting prevents you from turning it ON on cars that dont or cant have the tech (ABS or TC or ERS).
The Second setting is how much it is sensible to "save" the car.

Is a bug related to that?

 

hmm i have been having trouble with abs coming on with the old h shifter cars and i have it set too authentic ,mainly happens on multi i have manual clutch and h shifter

 

I don't play MP, but I would assume this is possibly a setting on the server by whoever set it up? Someone else would know better about that.

I’m a gamepad player exclusively and find 1.5 very enjoyable now. Super excited to read that the cars will feel more planted.

What’s the dead zone bug, out of curiosity?

 

Most older cars don't have ABS or TC, so they also don't have them in the game if you use Authentic. Is there a particular model where this is not the case for you? Or is this a replicable bug when you go online?

 

I play only with Xbox 360 controller.
Cars I've driven the most are Porsche Cup 4.0 and Lamborghini Supertrofeo, but I also drove several others recently (Stock Car 2019/2024, F-Ultimate G2, F3, F-V10, GT3, GT4, LMDh, LMP2, F-Classic G4).

Overall I'd say cars feel more predictable in 1.6. I remember many times over the years I'd have random wtf moments where I'd suddenly lose control of the car and have no idea why. These wtf moments are happening way less often in 1.6, and generally when they happen is because I was pushing too hard.

I find the rain/windshield effect very interesting. This is the most nitpick of nitpicks, but I notice that the windshield doesn't "fill" with rain until the wiper is about to make the pass from right-to-left. It's not a consistent effect/stream of the water. Any chance that it could be more dynamic in the future?

 

I despise modern YouTube thumbnails. Fake reactions, random arrows pointing to things and attention grabbing statements/questions in bold font, and you have the clickbait trifecta.

 

Gross. They all look like they took a dump in their pants. What's disturbing is some of the time, they actually liked it.

 

On one hand, I do agree that the current YouTube thumbnail meta is far from what I'd call a "good" thumbnail, I just... can't really bring myself to care enough to hate it. Maybe I'm desensitized to it, but it just kinda disappears into the background to me

 

For me it's just the dishonesty of it. It would be one thing if they cropped out the face they made during whatever game they're playing and used that for the thumbnail, but you know it's just awkward photo shoots feigning extreme reactions to literally nothing, so they can use it to make people think something so crazy is happening that the viewer just has to watch it to know what could cause such a reaction.

Either way, guess I can't criticize. I'll often roll my eyes and watch anyway if I know the content is something I want to see, like the 1.6 previews this conversation started from.

 

This is a bug in multiplayer with authentic assists where sometimes you have the opposite of what it should be. I posted a workaround for this in the troubleshooting thread: open the settings, turn off authentic assists, then turn them back on before every practice/qualifying/race. Doing so will ensure that the bug is never affecting you while you are on the track. You can also do this after you've noticed you are bugged.

I'm hoping this is something they fixed or worked around in 1.6, so that we don't have to worry about it in the new cars.

 

happens a lot with the chevrolete chevet or any of those cars in that class , and i have it set to authentic , but it looks like the hero post may have solved it what a hero thanks

I praised your Full FFB when I had a MOZA R9, and its still good with my new SIMAGIC ALPHA but I had to do some tweaking in SIMAGIC software as well as in Game settings to get the right feel.
I am looking forward to what new version you are going to pull out. I am also curious to see what 1.6 release will bring us with Customs FFB files

Regarding Braking system in LMDh and how to simulate in our Simracing games, trust me this is a very very complex exercise
This link is coming from BOSCH Le Mans Daytona hybrid system, my main competitor in the area of products dedicated to Hybrid and EV vehicles powertrain applications, including for racing cars.
They just scratch on the surface in the videos, there is more, much more, R&D and testing behind the scene so I am honestly doubtful any Game devs out there would eb able to replicate what's happening IRL

For my experience as a SIm user, LMU is closer to the real thing than AMS2 but no offence intended to Reiza work
