Automobilista 2 2026 Development Preview

We definitely need more karting - the now defunct KartKraft had great Australian tracks.
Reiza should ride the wave of Oscar Piastri and bring us the Go Kart Club of Victoria (GKVC) Melbourne track (below) and/or the Phillip Island go kart track.

Since Oscar the karting craze has taken off in Australia.

 

It's great to see that Reiza is still pushing for immersive features like these. I had an intense Porsche Cup race at Sebring the other day, fought my way from P7 to P1 (which doesn't happen often as I am a bad driver ) and - on my last lap with sweaty hands and overheated tires - rushed towards the Sunset Bend. Then suddenly a loud POP behind me and I was like "yooo, did my tire just explode?!" Another POP. "Noooo, not now!" And another... Until I noticed the huge firework right next to me.
This is meant to show how engaged I was after a simple 15 min offline race - AI, force feedback, visuals, sound design and details like the firework all benefit from each other and create an immersive experience like no other. I played video games my whole life but nothing comes close to sim racing.

 

I think one of the most immersive features for me was in RF2, the track tannoy announcements when you enter the track to start something, like practise, which always put a big smile on my face on hearing it. It is so burned into my brain that I can clearly hear it now (if I want to). It framed beautifully the session for me and help create excitement and anticipation for the session itself even when only doing a long fuel run. Anything now that brings the environment more alive is welcome.

 

Jumping on this to request a brilliant kart track in Portugal - one I've actually driven irl - in Almancil, Portugal. If Reiza need a reason to add it it was inaugurated by Senna <3

 

Those 90s touring cars just look amazing and I am so eagar to drive them. But I also have been raising a few questions in my mind: Which other cars could possibly join the BMW and Audi in the same category? As of now, it feels like maybe a Primera could easily join since AMS2 does have Nissan cars. So for now, we could ask if it is possible to get for example Renault, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Opel, Volvo and Ford. And yes, a few more could be questioned about, but these are some admired examples.
Some touring car tracks like Sachsenring and Salzburgring would make it more epic!

 

Ever since we have Maserati, its worth having a look at Stellantis and what other brands they have. Which among others are Opel and Peugeot

 

I agree, another way to increase immersion would be, like in Assetto Competizione, to be able customize the player's clothing and helmet appearance and create podium animations after races. This would be even more interesting for career mode...

 

I don't know what good have I done to Reiza studio's people for them to treat me with such goodies, it's not that much money to pay for all the content after all))
But guys, you can't just stop being phenomenal. I knew there were teasers at the end of last year that mid-`00-s and `10-s formula with finally be complete, but this perspective for a whole year - I can't remember anything like that in the past, so much QoL, content and features. Like no other.
Ams2 is continuing to win hearts. Not by hype, but by being steady, honest, creative and other things. It's awesome to be on board.

 

Looking at the 2005 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) this philosophy sounds very promising!

Tracks we already have in AMS2:
- Hockenheim
- Spa
- Nürburgring

Tracks currently missing:
- Lausitzring
- Brno
- Oschersleben
- Norisring
- Zandvoort
- Istanbul Park

-> Any missing circuit would be an amazing addition and I read forum requests for every single one. I guess it's a win-win-situation no matter the track Reiza manages to treat us with.

As a proud Belgian I need to correct the fact that Genk is not in The Netherlands, but in Belgium.

 

Yes, very good suggestion — especially for multiplayer.
In particular, at the end (as in RRE), the top three drivers should be properly celebrated and shown on a podium with their Steam avatars.
It would also be worth considering an intro sequence at the beginning, especially for multiplayer, briefly going through the drivers on the grid from back to front — of course optional and switchable off.

 

This is something that Gran Turismo does really well (both at beginning of races and podium)

 

Sounds incredible. Although I hardly touched the sim last year due to personal reasons, I’m ready to come back. Looking forward to 2026.

 

Just imagine driving the McLaren M8 in VR, turning your head and staring at this brutal motor sticking out higher than your head. Crazy machinery!

I agree, any of those circuits would be great for Automobilista 2, as would the Can-Am circuit list...

I hope Reiza can introduce some of them. In any case, I'm already more than impressed with everything they've done so far and the announcements for 2026. Reiza I have nothing but praise for you!
