    Just a random musing about that:

    I wonder if a vintage version of that circuit would be possible without a licence, seeing as it was 100% public roads until 1972 (well, technically until the Ford chicane in 1968), but a modern one would not be due to it now being dedicated racetrack?

    depends how deep you go. Even using e.g. old Cebie, Shell, whatever logo could be a license violation. Also replicating the buildings. Its not so easy.

    I think to have a complete Formula 1 experience it would be a nice addition to have a 2006-2008 era. Cars were much more evolved aerodinamically, had first gen V8, and were very different both from formula V10 (let's say 1998-2000) and formula Reiza (2010-2013). In my opinion that would close the F1 circle (except for the 2014-2016, but i never loved them)..

    Maybe. but for a perfect Sportscar Group 4 experience on the Nordschleife '71 you need an car that was purpose build for it, like: Porsche 908 – Wikipedia

    ahem... not a 908, but a 908/03 :)

    1970 - 1971: 908/03
    Despite the more powerful 917 improving towards the end of 1969, the career of the 908 continued. On rather twisty and slow tracks like Nürburgring and Targa Florio, the 917 was not suited well even after being modified to the "917K". So rather than trying to make "one size fit all", Porsche built dedicated cars for each type of racing track. Based upon the lightweight and short Porsche 909 which was used in hillclimbing, the new open cockpit version, the 908/03, was even shorter than the 908/02, and only weighed 500 kg (1,100 lb)- an astonishing figure for a long-distance racing car- in comparison, the 917K weighed about 840 kg (1,900 lb). This version was successful in the 1970 Nurburgring 1000 km and the Targa Florio, where typical speeds were only about half of the 240 mph (390 km/h) which the 917LH long tails could achieve at Le Mans[citation needed]. The 908/02 in which Steve McQueen finished second at the 1970 12 Hours of Sebring was also used as a camera car for the Le Mans film in the race itself. McQueen originally intended to drive a Porsche 917 in the race, though this was vetoed by the studio funding the film

    Interestingly PC2 has quite a wide selection in their DLC: 917K, 917LH and 908/03

    and driving the 908/03 on old LeMans is still a pleasure in PC2

    Yes, a lot of cars (Lambo Countach, F40, Porsche 917k…) and tracks (Zandvoort…), I would like to have in AMS2, already exist in other sims and the weirdest thing is: I have all of them, so I just could fire up AC, ACC, rFactor 2 or RaceRoom BUT I only play AMS2 anymore. I know this sounds and IS crazy. Can’t explain it. Maybe I don’t want to adapt to another driving feeling or fiddle around with graphics, FFB and VR settings. I just enjoy VR racing in AMS2 too much at the moment. :oops::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    I still play AC often but I usually find myself spending more time managing mods than driving...which somehow still entertains me lol.

    To combat that I started doing the challenges, only to find them in dire need of updating. Which brings up a point someone brought up a few months ago regarding TT times. The version the target time was established at would be good to keep somewhere for periodic review upon major physics changes.

    I also hope AMS2 adds hotlap challenges as I find them fun and a good way for friends to compete. Its also a great way to push people into specific car/track/environment combos to show off AMS2.

    Same for invitational races like in PC2.

    Good question. I suppose you'd need a license anyway because it's a brand thing. But I'm obviously not a lawyer.

    It would be quite an endeavour making the pre-1972 layout, I guess, and we'd need at least two or three appropriate cars for it as well for the track to make any sense. Could be fun, though personally I'd probably prefer driving those cars at historic Spa instead.

    I'm wondering, if it were to come out, what years would they choose for their historic roster? The likely choice would probably just be a 67-75 layout and the modern one ala the Nordschleife but maybe it could get the full 4 layout treatment? EG: 1971 being the first year of the current rolling start as well as the last year of Maison-Blanche, 1988/89 being the last years of the chicaneless Mulsane, 2001 being the first year of the flattened straight, and then the current layout circa 2021/22

    Well, that ~1970 version was the absolute highlight of PCARS2 to me...

    Agree with you that Spa and Nurburgring are more interesting though, I can't wait for that pair!
