They have released a joint statement

 

I figured that would happen, now they can finally crack the console market.

With AMS2 getting continued support they'll hopefully have 2 nice income streams, so more licenses for AMS2 maybe...

 

Also, I would only worry if things were the other way around. In this case, I don't think AMS2 will get PC2'd (i.e. no major updates after the final DLC). This is positive news.

Im excited for this because:

• Reiza clearly needed more resources to fix longstanding issues that havn't been fixed in years, and added missing but promised features.
• Ian Bell/Straight4 can provide things Reiza cannot do easily, like career mode or fixing long-standing madness engine issues like the poor mp servers.
• Straight4 had the issue of paying for licenses for content. Partnership with Reiza solves this.
• The new game can feature all of Reiza's content, including the physics and ffb, but now with the latest UE5 graphics.
• I dont think ams2 developement needs to slow down as new content can be ported to new sim.

Two problems I fear:

• VR performance is not great for acc in UE4, so hoping the new sim can retain AMS2's VR or improve it.
• Performance for those with older PCs.

Edit: Just remembered that Straight4 is all in on AI, including synthesised commentators and crew chief

 

Just hope AMS2 doesn’t stop receiving updates to focus on the new sim

Project Automobilista confirmed

With attention to details that Reiza have combined with Ian Bell's business contacts there may be something nice emerging, but also I hope it won't be another Early Access released and focus shifted to a new title and new income stream. Hoping for the first scenario but time will tell.

Let's just hope it's beneficial for both sides and AMS2 doesn't get affected by it. Anything is just speculation right now without any more details. Let's hope for more concrete info soon!
