AI cannot have the same physics as the player, neither in AMS2 nor in any proper racing sim. This has been explained many times. No computer can handle that, and even if they could, that would mean implementing a self-driving race car, which is an open research problem (moreover, your computer probably cannot handle the latter either).

Making them more realistic or tackling the other issues within the simplified physics is the goal.

Yes they can have the same physics as the player many games have this Reiza have decided not to to save CPU usage and some things that they'll only know about.

No I think they're adding ETRC trucks, which would make more sense because it fits better with their existing tracks.

    Er
Er, no! Assetto Corsa Competizione has A.I. on the same physics as the player, its one of the things I really like about it, just wish the A.I. had more varied personality, which is one of the things I like about AMS2

ACC also has the worst ai, their racing lines are all terrible and they are as slow as mazapin

The problem with Reiza is that they inherited the Ai from the Madness Engine, and we all know how dreadful that was. It needs a complete overhaul if it wants to compete with the likes of rFactor 2 or iRacing.

At this point I don't even care about the AI having the same physics as the player, I just want them to be competitive. Admittedly they have improved but only marginally.

They still unnecessarily weave on straights with a very abrupt type of behaviour, they still struggle to overtake slower cars, and they still appear really poor in terms of motion when battling or driving in general.

Agreed. They are terrible. I think iRacing Ai is leading right now, and rFactor 2 still holds up second (although very far behind iRacing). Most other sims have very poor AI.

I never had any hope for ACC AI when the AC AI was so poor, even after the update. It'll likely be the same for AC 2 as well.

Yep, it's just a pity it costs an arm and leg, even though I am exclusively using it for offline. Pretty sure that they use some form of AI and a neural network, it has taken a long time for AI content to be rolled out but when it does, it works very well

The RF2 AIs have a bad habit of hitting my car when I make a pit stop, unfortunately it's tiring.

I have to say, I'd love A.I. to be on same physic's as the player, it would solve lots of problems like their grip compared to yours when tires break traction during contact between player & A.I. car. It would solve their speed difference in the rain compared to yours as you'd both loose the same amount of grip, but!
I really do think, even without them being on the same physics, Reiza have done a damn good job with what they've got! I think the A.I. are some of the best in the biz and stand up very well to other sims A.I., its a testiment to them that you can have a server of half players and half A.I. and have a damn good race, and i've seen them do some amazing things! I've never seen any sim where the A.I. sort themselves out so well after a pile up (they know how to reverse for one thing!).

Oh and they sure as heck can overtake each other! Just watch this one A.I. car go!
