Automobilista 2 August 2022 Development Update

This is more Reiza weirdness, because they showed in AMS2 v1.1.0.5 the AI could be tuned in such a way that they run way, way better around slower cars and the player car. For whatever reason though, this version of the AI either never showed up or got downgraded after the fact for whatever reason.

That was also the time when they started tuning the AI for certain car and track combos though, so maybe it's a matter of getting the AI racing against itself, and then adding back in whatever made them so reactive in this video. Regardless, it is sort of annoying and proably the reason they've kind forgotten Sports cars exist this year in exchange for a bunch of Open Wheelers. (Who's AI is on the whole, far above average)

 

They might have run into issues with the update. Even though they haven’t released it, we know they will release it one day

 

It's been over a year now, so who knows? I would like to think they would considering how good some of the car/track combo AI is.

 

I have played a lot of racing games throught the years and frankly AMS2 has some of the best AI there is, maybe I am less demanding than other people, but when you compare this game with GT7, AC, ACC, PC2, Nascar, etc. This is miles better, the only games I can remember to have played with better AI are GP4 and maybe GTR2, the latter F1 games also have pretty good AI, havent played the last one though. The main issues right now is their innabilty to outbreak themselves( I think the swerving is a side effect of it) and their wet track advantage. But seeing how we can have custom values for each driver gives me hope that this AI is highly configurable and Reiza can get on top of those 2 main issues.

 

Ams2 October Dev update:

• Minor tread changes
• Minor aero tweaks
• Minor carcass tweak for vw virtus

Wish they'd add Copa dx11 at the least...

 

Side note: didn't they say something about a feature allowing a fixed number of cars per class in multiclass races back a few updates ago?

Was that just a single player feature or will we ever get it in MP. If it is there, I haven't found it yet.
