I second that , the 2023 year has been MASSIVE for AMS2 , this guys need rest indeed.

 

No pitchforks here, brother. If there's one thing I've never had a doubt about AMS2, it's the passion and work ethic of the Reiza team. I'm always in on this and future Reiza projects because of it. The world needs independent sim houses like you folks!

 

Yeah thats a fair call. The game (EA WRC) has its issues with controllers and stuttering etc. The latest patches didn't do much to fix these and in some cases made it worse. They introduced game breaking bugs with those patches that they wont patch those until mid Jan (Which they call a hotfix ). You aren't out of order with complaints (well, maybe the way you present some of them but we are all guilty of that from time to time )

 

Can someone help me with this, I'm unsure just how outraged I should be that a game developer wants to give us content that has been properly tested before releasing it.

Man, there is nothing uglier than jilted videogamers. It really brings out the worst in us.

I want to play it as much as anyone. But they can't release a non-functional patch you guys. Do you know how much trouble that would get them? And I'm pretty sure steam comes down hard on developers who mess up with that stuff. Doesn't everything a dev do, costs money? Like every attempt at a patch, steam takes a cut? Something like that?

But this stuff about, "They shouldn't have announced anything" is pure whinery. Listen to yourselves. I appreciated knowing it's coming. Every videogame I've ever paid attention to has had to push dates back. They didn't even give a date, anyways. Just that they are hoping to release it in the last week of 2023.

They said they hope to push it out the last week of 2023 after a grueling 2 weeks (while most of us are sitting around enjoying christmas break), but they ran into some difficulties. That happens guys. It's childish to pout. Let them cook.

EA WRC has issues with everything. It was knowingly released long before it was ready for prime time (EA forced this, presumably for holiday season sales purposes, and then fired a bunch of Codemasters staff prior to them being able to finish the game properly). Serious graphics issues. Serious gameplay issues, including major elements that just do not work. Controller fiasco (sadly typical for console-based games that are converted to PC). Physics are a joke, with the hybrid system not simulated properly (and one drive train model for all cars, hybrid and non-hybrid), clutch modelling issues that result in totally unusable manual shifters for many vehicles, water (in water splashes) having the consistency of wet mud or wet cement, AI completely borked on many of the stages, set-ups that can't be saved or recalled, track cut issues aplenty, and on and on. It has wonderful art work/stage recreations (that must have cost a fortune), but clearly had too little time and attention on many key elements prior to release.

EA was apologetic and promised to fix everything quickly. They released patches that addressed one or two of the 20+ issues. The latest patch (1.40) released December 14th failed to fix much, but did inadvertently break the career mode (including ruining all in-session careers of players) that was already problematic along with the barely-functioning time trial mode. Then, on December 19th, EA announces that they cannot figure-out how to fix the issues quickly, so there will not be another patch (that promises, but cannot guarantee, to fix the career mode fiasco plus who knows how many of the other laundry list of issues) until mid-January.

How does that compare to what goes on here?
