In that case, how're the RX physics? On par with how PC2 handled it or better? (also, suppose I may as well re-ask regarding if the AI's gotten better given the answer might not be "wait till release" this time)

I tested the WRX Polo in both AMS2 and PC2 at Hockenheim back-to-back yesterday, and both cars felt quite similar at least when it comes to suspension and weight transfer feel.

So the AI ... there are legacy issues that seem to be really hard to get rid of, like the pack racing. They still do that and it's still annoying. It's not quite as annoying as before, because now the dirty air has been reduced to levels that are both more playable and more realistic (and boy didn't I fight for that XD), so you can race the packs even in formula cars.

There's also an issue in several cars that the AI brakes too early for corners so you can easily divebomb them. Some of the calibration passes that have happened (like the Nürburgring GP) have lead to new corners where the AI gain excessive time on the player.

Overall though, there has been heavy lifting to get the AI to improve; we've collected tracks where the AI is completely off the player's pace and on tracks like Spielberg (both historic and modern), it's really an entirely different world because the calibration is much better. Also, the rain pass the AI received really helped matters in situations like slick tires on a wet track. It's not perfect - situations like these are never gonna be that - but it's now very workable.

There's also a lot of work going on to calibrate AI tire wear at the moment, which is something that hasn't really worked before, so very good things are happening.

To me it feels like the fastest bursts of improvement we've had in racing the AI the game received in its entire life span, and as soon as they're done - which will not be 1.5, but some of it will be there - we can look forward to much better calibration than we previously had.

RE: RX physics: I know I really liked that part of PC2, so there wasn't really something for them to fix. Memory's too dusty to really know if they improved on it, gut feeling says yes. It's not worse for sure.

Among many issues there is also the one of not being able to spin around the AI drivers unless you absolutely slam into them at insane speeds. It is not realistic when you bump into an AI driver and it will always and every time crash you out, that is just nonsense, and also the fact that they react in less than 1 tenth of a second and start steering back onto the AI line looks terrible if by any chance they are pushed off.

Go to Project Cars 2 and try crashing into the AI there, and how relatively easy = realistic it is to spin someone out if you crash into them.

Following up on what Dicra wrote about the AI, most of the improvements are in their lines and speed on some circuits. Their behavior issues are still mostly present (hesitation to out brake, going off track to overtake, hittin each other when overtaking on some corners, etc).

There are some improvements to their pit strategies, but unfortunately I haven't been able to test them. Today I am finally gonna have some time to play after some 2 weeks, so I am pretty eager to try all the new physics and AI improvements.

I did have one of the best races in any sim ever with the GTE's in Silverstone, so with the right cars and tracks, it's an awesome experience.

I was referring to those of course, but was thinking at least some readers might like to learn that there's even more later rather than have it all laid out on their pre-starter plate.

Despite their quirks I find the AI consistently the most exciting compared to other sims, so there are pros and cons currently, imo :)

As far as I'm aware, Renato only revealed two new P1s. But whether he did or not has little influence on my belief that some people like to be pleasantly surprised to find something they didn't already know about listed in the RC changelog or the dev update once they arrive, or in the first v1.5 beta videos that land on youtube. If you wish to list those cars now though, please go ahead.
