That is Player vs AI, not AI vs AI. It says in the description that the Renault in the video is player-driven.

    This raises so many questions

Like, why does this problem only appear now if Brabham and Lotus are also an issue, considering they co-existed with the McLarens for years in the game ?

Why is iRacing able to have 4 different F1 manufacturers, 3 of them current (including McLaren), having cars in the game ?

Why did McLaren legal team find an issue there, and not Renault's legal team in the first place, since supposedly both are bound by the same agreement with the FOM ? And, in the same vein, why does the choice seem to be McLaren or Renault+Brabham+Lotus, and not McLaren OR Renault OR Brabham+Lotus ?

Seems like there is a bit more to the story than just "McLaren and Reiza

Because they are trying to renew the license, as explained in the post, and so this same license might have had different conditions in the previous years. Renault is no longer part of F1 since it's Alpine now so I guess that would be the thing. This is all based on what was written by Renato by the way.

Maybe "Renault" doesnt count as a current manufacturer as it is now badged as "Alpine"

I think the issue is that Mclaren are bound by legalities put in place to stop other developers creating full grids of F1 cars through individual contracts with each manufacturer as opposed to going through FOM themselves (basically protecting EAs market share with the official game).

Its silly though as Reiza are only licensing cars that dont race anymore. EA are never going to do an "F1 1974" or "F1 2005" game - its too niche.

For what it's worth I don't think it's a good use of the forums to start conspiracies that it's anything more than what Renato has said. He says McLaren have tried to help them, but they can't. He says they're not the ones making the roadblock. Just believe him.

It certainly isn´t, nor is it advisable to be throwing innuendos - especially in your first post in the forum...

We are being as upfront as we can possibly be folks, the information is right there as clear as we can make it; you may choose not to take it in or believe something else, but to make up theories you´ll have to go some place else.

I must admit I don’t fully understand this, but I’m not going to spend a lot of energy worrying or thinking about it. I have learnt with Reiza to just let them get on with it, and wait for my copy of AMS2 on Steam to update date when it updates.

I really hope the decision can be postponed until the summer sale... I promised my son the all in one bundle for his birthday :)

I would buy the basegame now to ensure you have the newly added Renault F1 cars, and i believe it will be deducted from the all in one bundle once you buy that.

Also buy the Formula HiTech and Brazilian Racing Legends to guarantee the official historic F1 cars. If you open these DLC in Steam they will show -75% right now.

I think its pretty clear its not McLaren and Reiza, but FOM and McLaren.

The new Concorde agreement came into effect on 1 January 2026. Hence any new licence negotiations are affected by this.

Is this actually still relevant with the second update this month? Or has this been postponed due to the licensing problems? Just out of interest, no pressure, you should take the time you need
