Disappointed, but what can you do?
Its another Dallara IR18 scenario unfortunately where everything is ready to roll but no Green light

What I do not understand yet completly:

I do not get these together, yet. Will "remain available exactly as it is today" only be the case for already paid DLC (like the McLarens in F-Hightech) or also for the ones available in the base game (like the McLarens/Brabhams/Lotuses in the F-Retro classes)? And are the latter the only ones affected by "make a difficult choice as to which officially licensed F1 cars remain in the game".

BTW: I do not care for official licensing that much. Most of the time I sit in cockpit view and look at the cars from behind (or in my mirror :D) so I could not tell the difference between a generic model with a livery by one of our skilled modders of the "official" thing. The question is, how close can a generic model get to the real car? So far it was always close enough for me that I still feel immersed ... Or is there more to an "official" licensed car than the looks (e.g. physics data derived form official data)?

Agreed. It's just a livery, not the real car—totally not worth spending big money on them. After all, it's just a sim. As long as the driving feel of the corresponding model is right, and the mechanical traits and physical feedback come through, the immersion will be just fine. Even if it's only a plain livery DLC, as long as the car's core is correct, I'd still pay for it. It's just giving a McLaren a new set of clothes—what's the big deal?

My question is - if McLaren were removed and there would just be a generic model in their place, how would that affect Offline play ? I own the Brazil Legends dlc packs and there are non-dlc McLaren cars, so if i were to set a full field of all cars of the class would there be "4 McLarens" on the track ?

I would pay for the DLC even without the McLarens.

You are correct; McLaren are not the ones creating the roadblock, they are just the ones where the roadblock is as the one manufacturer who is still in the world championship.

Manufacturers that are no longer involved are unshackled by the same restrictions - we have more cars from McLaren then we get from all the others combined though so it´s a tough call.

Yes and the McLarens in the base game (MP4/1C, MP4/12).

It should be said that we don´t have a final decision on this yet, as per above from an objetive standpoint it would be more logical to stick with McLaren if we can get a new deal wrapped but we are not there yet.

The second is a less detailed version of the first; we will be forced to disable some official F1 cars in the game for new purchases; if you bought the game or the DLCs up until that change is made the content will be unnafected.

    Hello Renato!

Those are setbacks, which should not distract your team from your path and your goals.

Regulatory requirements are bureaucratic hurdles that can sometimes leave any industrial company up to its neck in trouble - no matter which branch they work in.

I run an SME myself - and, unfortunately, in Germany, no less - so I know exactly what bureaucracy and contractual obligations entail! Germans turn everything into a bureaucratic nightmare!

Your fantastic product won’t lose any value because of this, because you’re passionate about the project. And that’s all that matters.

Keep your chin up, and keep going!

    Best regards,
    herakles

Thank you, Reiza, for making my dream come true. It's a real shame if you won't be able to add the McLarens to the game after all. I was really looking forward to this update.

Are the car shapes/designs licensed as well? In other words, could the new cars still be added to the game without the McLaren livery, or would the car models themselves need to be modified?

In all seriousness, McLaren and the Senna link feels like part of the DNA and inspiration for AMS2 .
So cutting that link is a very hard thing to ask .

It’s a little bit like kicking out one of the family kids to make way for the French exchange student .
And while the Brabhams and lotuses etc are fantastic, they are probably easier to accept as generic-ish substitutions considering they are likely less used anyway ( and can be just as immersive with Custom liveries) , and I’d be willing to bet would be quickly overshadowed by the newer McLarens , and they would get a lot more bums on seats .

so rather than make a protest call against a corporate entity that’s causing this issue, you have to weigh up what you think is the right thing for the identity and soul of Ams2 .
There is quite a lot of content at the heart of this that an emotional connection or was built by Reiza with love and passion.

Are the non-F1-McLaren in any danger of beeing cut due to this license-drama? GT1, GT3, GT4, Supercar, future Can-Am ...

As far as I'm reading it's an issue with F1, not McLaren themselves. So afaik it should only affect F1 content.

Maybe I'm alone in feeling this way, but I couldn't care less about "licensed" cars given how quickly livery mods come out.

For me the option is clear, If I understood correctly and the choice is to get rid of one brand.. I sadly would pick Lotus, most of its content is base content so no one would lose any DLC value and in general it seems like the one thats easier to replace.. licensing sure its a mess

    Pqp... that sucks.

McLaren will always feel close to the heart for most -if not all - brazilians for obvious reasons. Cutting it from the game is tough.

For me the choice is very clear: keep all McLaren content. But again, I'm brazilian, and I'm not financially affected by either scenario.

Tough luck, Reiza doesn't deserve to be in this situation.
