Sad news. But I think everyone was expecting to pay for the Renault DLC, so will it be a good decision not to collect that money? This worries me a bit regarding Reiza's financial stability. Anyway, I wish the team good luck and I'll always be rooting for the best for AMS2 and Reiza.

Some of us have been painting original liveries on ‘fictional’ f1 cars for years... Personally, I’ve got no problem with that.
If Reiza could also provide us with 3D templates to make it easier, that would be great.
Don’t worry, it’s just basic 3D modelling – no one’s going to steal your work...

With McLaren being the only manufacturer of them still being in F1 it looks they have other licensing agreements that forbids them to have their formula cars in games where other formula 1 cars from other carmakers appear. Sounds much like FIA made sure that nobody can recreate an non official formula game so only the official F1 game can have multiple branded formula cars competing with each other.

So, it's dependent on current F1 branding, right? Otherwise Renault would come under Alpine or whatever

You would hope that an exception could be applied to historic cars that are no longer active in F1

That's why I just bought some DLC on Steam that I wasn't overly interested in so far (IMSA/Lambo), just to compensate...

I think the formula content this game offers is already very good and comprehensive. If the generic models don't have major visual changes, then they don't really affect the gameplay that much (in other words, it was a real shame that last time even the generic models for modern Indycar couldn't be preserved).
Also, I used to think that generic models carried slightly more licensing risk than official licensed content, but now it seems that's not necessarily the case.

Yes and modders do the job to make the liveries

Forza Reiza! Thank you for everything you do and have done so far. If Renault really does come for free... I can only be grateful! I would seriously consider joining a Paddock Club as mentioned. Hoping you can find a solution and reorganize your DLCs.

Just my opinion: Save the money for expensive licenses and rather make even more tracks (magny cours, sepang, etc.) into the game. For the liveries there are enough modders who do that.

Thank you for the transparency Renato! It's a genuine shame beaurocracy gets in the way of delivering the best product that you guys can but I think you've handled it in the best way possible. I'm thankful for being part of the Beta but I was hoping everyone could enjoy the fantastic new content you guys have been working on without any restrictions.

Tho I do hope someone can clarify me something, as I may have misintreperted: Are the base game McLarens (4/1c and 4/12), since they are not DLCs, going to be affected just for new purchases or everyone overall?

I wrote this elsewhere - the reason AMS2 keeps getting new content is mainly due to licensed cars and also the tracks being purchased by the player base. If only generic cars would be added then likely a lot fewer would be buying it.

I bought the Historic Endurance DLC mainly for the Dodge Viper being in it. Then again i had the USA Packs regardless if the stock cars were generic models or not and even as generic models i still have a blast driving them.

The LMDh class is great that it is only the real cars, racing them to me is made more enjoyable thanks to that but i am also having a blast with the GT2 Milano generic car. There definitely cannot be only generic cars added to the game due to market demand being higher for licensed cars.

I'm concluding this as a warning!

"Listen everyone... the game is going to change, some content will be removed, so buy it and don't say I didn't warn you!"

Thank you for giving us advance notice!

    To Renato.
I want to support AMS2 and REIZA, so even if you're thinking of releasing Renault F1 for free, tell me how I can contribute to supporting you.
I don't think it's right that your work is being wasted by practically illogical and incomprehensible licensing issues.
You're working for us, and every step forward in the simulation comes at a cost of study, construction, testing, and passion.
Find a way to contribute to your work, which is truly important to fans.
    Thank you

I think it's just a temporary thing, like when they release new content and it's free for the weekend for everyone, only this time it's going to be until they settle this legal mumbo jumbo

The way I understood it this case is a bit different because the Renault cars can't continue being sold if/when the McLaren deal is renewed.
So instead of creating a FOMO situation where it's possible that the Renault cars can be sold for a limited time period only, which is generally regarded as a somewhat scammy business tactic to push sales (though the circumstances are usually different of course, Reiza is basically forced to do it this way if they want to generate any money at all from this content while other developers/publishers use this as a conscious strategy), Reiza is offering the Renault cars for free for everyone to avoid this.

That's how I interpreted it at least :)

Really sorry to hear about the McLaren licensing situation.

Of course it is disappointing, especially considering how iconic those Formula cars are and how much many of us were looking forward to driving them in AMS2. But at the same time, it is clear that this is not something under Reiza’s control, and I appreciate Renato being transparent about it.

What I want to say most of all is thank you to Reiza for the way you are handling this. Releasing the planned Renault Formula cars as free content, despite the financial impact this will have on the studio, is an extremely generous gesture towards the community.

It says a lot about the passion and commitment behind AMS2.

Licensing issues are frustrating, but they do not change the bigger picture for me. Reiza has built something very special with Automobilista 2, and the continued support, improvements and communication with the community are exactly why many of us keep believing in this project.

Full support to Renato and the whole Reiza team. I really hope the community understands the situation and appreciates the effort you are making despite this setback.
