The problem is I can't stretch to new hardware and am happy playing this on medium setting as I have been for the last few years.
Just because you are happy to spunk a load of cash on upgrading doesn't mean everyone else has to does it?

 

Who are we kidding? We all know sim racing is a bottomless money-pit. It's the life we have chosen.

Absolutely terrible advice in this thread.

I would try to please both high end users as well as people who are content with what they have.

This is particularly logical as even 10 year old hardware is still pretty powerful and AMS 2 makes good use of the available performance. So there's no reason for that discussion at all.

 

Can't count how many weekends have passed where I was CERTAIN that the Dev update Part 2 was coming, exited like a child. Here we are again, seems I can be fooled indefinitely by Renato .

I had my first big race in racecraft online. Donington Park with the humble but fun Ginetta G40Cup. Very few incidents. I managed to domy first proper overtake after a long fight. So much fun. Then I spun the car, so much fun too lol.

I ended up P10 because im an idiot and though I was being lapped so I did not defend 3 people that I though that were fighting for P1 lol. I have to pay more attention to the leaderboard. (I also forgot to start Crewchief)
Then I was lapped by the leader, following him was like having a crash course on how to drive on that circuit

We were 14 people in my split. Great experience.
No need to wait till 1.6 to have fun online. Playing against the AI is fun but playing against real people is special.

 

I’m really interested that you have top of the line PC but the details on the bottom of your post say you use a Index. Seems overpowered for an index. You could run a Crystal no problem.

Oh on your HF8, I have one they are great right! But one future tip, it might just be the Crystal but it doest work without light houses, you get all the vibration in the HMD. I think inside outside tracking can’t factor it out when it’s tracking. Lucky I had mine from my index and aero. But I had to buy the lighthouse faceplate. Not sure if it’s a Crystal only problem. If anybody has a HF8 and a meta quest I’d love to know.

 

This is why I love Reiza more than most other devs. It really feels like they try to make sure things are well optimized. I remember booting up Pcars 2 and being shocked at how terrible my machine ran it compared to AMS 2

 

AMS2’s graphics being as good as they are for as little GPU overhead as they require was a HUGE reason I picked it as my next sim after Assetto Corsa, another game that punches way above its weight graphically. Compare to ACC which runs on Unreal Engine, probably the least graphically efficient engine on the market.

 

You guys haven't forgotten that you can adjust many graphics quality settings in-game, right?
Even if there are improvements to the engine that do come with a performance hit (which has been stated should not be the case), you might just need to knock something down a notch to be where you were prior to the changes.

Unless you're already running everything on the lowest settings and not even getting 60fps, in which case it probably is time to upgrade that GPU anyway.

 

98% of the cards that I can find on the used market were used for mining and I'm really not in the mood to splash any money on a ticking timebomb...sorry

 

True this. That's exactly the reason why I'm picking up the all-inclusive bundle tomorrow. The devs really seem like they care about the game and their community and as a future software engineer I feel for them and want to support that.

 

I get you. I hadn't been playing AMS2 for all that long when the Paddock Club membership came along and I snapped it up without hesitation. I actually ditched AC and RF2 because I like AMS2 a lot more.

Nobodys asking you to buy new hardware. Sell your 50 dollar graphics card and buy a used 100 dollar one. If you cant afford that small of an upgrade, Im sorry, but there has to be some reasonability to your point of view.

When I didnt have any money I always bought used PC hardware and didnt go to forums to complain that games require more hardware as time goes by.

All of this seems like a storm over nothing. What problems with graphics are you even expecting? Why do you guys even think you need to upgrade? Maybe its just a matter of turning down one single nonimportant graphic setting.

Heck, Im playing in VR and I have turned down graphics settings. Whats the big deal about it!? Its graphics options, meaning optional, not mandatory.

 

Same for me. Finished 3rd, miles away from P2. Thanks God my setup for H-Shifter bugged, because if it was working will be much more worse!
