Automobilista 2 May 2024 Development Update - The Road to V1.6 Pt1

Hype momentum is built by users. Devs are just sharing plans and future roadmap. It's not their fault that some players are hysterical if they've read about plans and need them NOW.

I've written it before here - we (AMS2 players) are in a special position where there's a forum with a direct contact to the Reiza team. It doesn't happen often when devs are so accessible. Please don't ruin it as this is a great way to be involved in the journey, much better than silent, surprise updates.

I hope this will open up other studios to open up and share the journey with us.

 

I’m starting to think the "by the way" guy is back.

 

Ok, but it doesn't have all the features it was sold with or those that are planned. This is the big game changing update that has sold hundreds of extra copies, and it is more than fair to receive what was advertised.

 

I don't dislike you, and I do respect you - I just disagree.

Out of curiosity, and not trying to be devilish, what features was it sold with that it doesn't have?

 

A few thoughts that I have every time we have one of these cycles (warning - some of these require keeping two competing truths in tension):

1. It's awesome that Renato gives us any dev updates at all. But it's not good when he disappears after teasing us that another update is coming "soon." Even if it's a shorter one, a little bit of information is better than none. And I also understand that he is very busy as the lead developer.

2. AMS2 is already a very good sim. Enjoy it! I completely understand the desire to wait for the update. If that's you, then try AC with Pure 2.0 or the new graphics in Raceroom. There's plenty to do with this hobby!

3. Majestic is not wrong about dates. When AC Evo does release it is going to suck all the oxygen out of the sim racing room. It would be nice if 1.6 came well before that. However, it will drop when it drops (note my Godot post).

4. Many folks on here do not speak English as their first language. Let's extend a little grace, OK? Some folks like to excuse Reiza's time flexibility because they are from Brazil. Can't we also do that when someone from a more direct culture writes something either in their secondary language or using Google Translate?

I think that one of the goals of this forum is to build a community around the product. That happens when it is a safe place to share criticism and frustration. We're all excited for 1.6. We're all frustrated at the delay.

I'm moving my attention away from not only AMS2 but sim racing in general. That way the wait is much shorter.

I recently started playing X4: Foundations one of those games with a massive universe to discover and many different gameplay mechanics.
Like AMS2 it took years to mature but now it is very impressive.

 

We have been told many times that you cannot hold Brazilians accountable for time promises. Reiza never writes that, but that has come up many times on these forums.

 

actually I think it would be really beneficial, not only a menace.
In fact, what should we talk about in this very thread (related to the update / dev blog)? I think 190 pages are way way more than enough.
I would close this nonsense and reopen once the dev blog is delivered (or the update itself, but it will have its own thread).
And mind, I am a guy truly understanding and feeling both Reiza but also all the frustrated guys.

 

I think for a while it would be better to close this thread because not much of value has really been spoken in the last 483 messages. Best would be to make a new thread once the second dev update will be posted.

 

here's an interesting combo to try while everyone is waiting. We don't have the Nords tourist layout but no need to nit pick. Looks like a hearty challenge with that Ultima GTR beast.

Are there plans to improve the audio in 1.6?

 

I use Sony for everyday life and Steelseries for gaming

 

what sonys you use i was gonna buy the xm4s but ended up going with the qc45s from bose

 

I use WH-H900N (IIRC). They’re mid range, but I might buy the XM4s in Black Friday

 

I wonder why we have the Ultima GTR 640 in AMS2, when we had the 720 in AMS1 and the 720 is much better matched in performance with the McLaren F1 LM.
Nevertheless, it's one of the most fun and challenging cars to drive in AMS2! Who needs a cup of coffee when you have adrenaline?
