Any chances we get more data provides via shared memory with the coming 1.6 update?
For example, the data on penalties is completely missing and I think this is necessary for multiplayer sessions if you want to use additional software like SimHub.

 

They own the Madness engine insofar as they can fully rewrite it. They don't own the rights, they can't sell it or break the NDA they're under.

Doesn't mean there isn't potential for a coffee break or two with Straight4 employees.

 

Nope it WAS owned by SMS who wrote it, then owned by Codemashers when they bought SMS, and now by EA after they bought Codies.
Reizas deal predates both sales and Codies/EA can do nothing to stop it's use (at least for AMS2).
It's also legally possible for Reiza to continue using it if they've got those rights "in perpetuity" or if enough is changed to make it a significantly different game engine.
After all ME is a development of ISIMotor 2.5 if they didn't have the rights to adapt it then there'd be ISI lawsuits flying round like a flock of seagulls raiding the school trip to the seaside for their ice cream cones and chips..

EA promptly cancelled PC4 and dissolved SMS after PC3 "All the sim you'll want" crashed and burned harder than Romain Grosjean at Barhain GP in 2023, at least Grosjean survived!
Ian Bell poached many of the staff for Straight4 Studios before and after the closure of SMS. Right after his "non compete" clause had expired.
Ian is back in full control and who can blame the devs for jumping ship?

So, it has been at least a year that I played the game. Came back last week after I moved and put up my sim rig again. I also got the custom ffb V5000 from @Danielkart.

What can I say? HFS did the game improve! The BMW M1 is my favorite car so far and it feels fabulous. The physics and the ffb feel so great. It made so much fun alone to tinker on the setup for Nürburgring GP because I could really feel the difference even between minor adjustments. HUUUUUUGE Kudos to @Danielkart and Reza. Also the AI OMFG, it is awesome. I had a race at 95% and maximum aggression, 10 laps, start in the middle, today and from start to finish it was just the....... SHI*. I can hardly imagine having much more fun with real drivers. I was fighting for each position, got overtaken when I made mistakes and not A SINGLE ONE unfair collision or any restart was needed. And then VR. Finally! I can almost max out all settings with SMAA ultra on a G2 and it runs with constant 90 FPS at 6AM at Nürburgring in a thunderstorm. The adjustable visible grid makes all the difference I guess and I was waiting for it since the beginning (I even made a downgrade from my 5900 to the 5800X3D for that, totally worth it!)

So with that impression I am much more eager for 1.6 but Reiza can take what ever FCKin time they want when it means they can continue this great work.

Especially when the multiplayer gets the needed improvement I guess the game will really gather a much bigger player base.
