Automobilista 2 September 2024 Development Update - The Road to V1.6 Pt2

Just like there is a team pit strategy there should honestly be something similar with car setups. I am no engineer and although i know how to change few things on a car setup i got no idea what a "slow rebound" is supposed to even be. There should be some presets, sliders, or auto-setup for people who need help with that to be competitive. I hate default setup races online because the few things i can change make a difference but with stuff like gear ratios often times making a HUGE difference i got no idea what could be ideal without spending 10 - 15 minutes testing track after track.

I believe Project Cars 2 had something like this in the setup screen where you selected "This is how my car behaves and this is what i want" and it would adjust stuff for you.

Even if Boris has been communicated a target date, we all know those are fluid. I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

 

IMSA at indianapolis is about to start people.

 

I might have missed it but are we getting official liveries for the imsa content ?

 

Definitely some for sure, you can see the Cadillac in the OP has an IMSA livery, I think the Lambo GT3 does too.

Not sure how they'll work yet (separate 'class' to the generic ones? Mixed together?) - would be nice to know, I really hope they'll be split.

 

Hopefully they have a separate GTD class

I feel it in my bones that 1.6 gets released next weekend, but I also wont get my hopes high

 

If I had a nickel for every time someone said this related to V1.6, I would be able to buy AMS2 again

 

A race engineer would be really handy as you work on a setup, thats for sure. I dont mind copying setups from youtube/discord/etc though, i just chalk it up to that being my engineer, lol.
Speaking of settings/pit stops/etc :

LMU's DLC #2 and update coming next week is going to have a "pit menu" which helps out a TON. So sure you can fiddle around with your pit settings during a straight, but that is always stressful and easy to screw up.
Instead, now when you enter the pits, game will pause, and you have the full pit menu so you can make any changes that you are allowed to make (tire types, change only left side, little more front wing, this much fuel, etc) easily. That makes up for the reality that in a race your team would figure all that out, and you'd just provide your opinion as requested and its all taken care of.
And you can also save your game during a pit stop in offline mode, they've knocked that out of the park for us offline endurance fans. I can only hope AMS2 can (if not in 1.6, sometime??) have similar functionality!

I think there's a reason Renato hinted at maybe the full IMSA field wouldn't be possible, and my guess is Acura is that reason.

Ferrari I don't expect either.

I'd guess at least one that isn't IMSA related (at least not Weathertech) and it's possible some are related to the vintage Le Mans content instead.

Personally, I hope that Ford and Aston are two (partially because I want a Capri for GT70 and an AMR1 for Group C!) but happy either way with whatever they have coming.

I have very little knowledge of setups but I have a feeling that it is not as hard as it looks. And it is very rewarding.
AMS2 description of setups is very good, the problem is knowing when to tweak what and why.
Sadly there are very few good resources about car tunning for beginners.
I am personally against fixed setup races because they cut off a very interesting part of sim racing. Just because "it is too hard". I know that some people cut it off by buying paid setups, either way you are cutting off a part of the game.

Slow rebound is the setup affects the driver inputs rather than the road surface. (I think)

 

I remember Renato saying on this forum that the dev update was delayed because he wanted to talk about what they have done rather than what they are planning to do. So my guess is that all the development is done now we just have to hope that betatesters cant find anything game breaking that delay the release.
So yeah I hope that by friday we will have the dev update 3 and hopefully in the weekend we could have 1.6.

I am going to reassemble my rig tomorrow to be ready.
