    It´s just a realistic assesment based on what we know and see from ongoing multi tests, the chances for reliability issues tend to rise exponentially over a given threshold of 28 clients or so even after we streamlined the data rate to possibly the leanest in all of sim racing; when you see that and all that is associated with running multiplayer races for larger fields, it serves no purpose trying to be optimistic and further feed expectations that already tend to be unrealistic.

    Fact of the matter is, this engine was conceived to do and achieve many things, and does most of them brilliantly; it was never conceived to be a MMO racer and it´s very unlikely we can ever make it into one. Sometimes one just has to take the good with the bad - that is as true for a $40 racing game software as it is for most things in life.

    The biggest problem in my opinion is with AI is that they are on rails, very close together and do not slide like we do, and they form groups of 2 in most cases, as seen in the video, 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 go together overtaking each other for a long time. We need to work more on the time variables in lap by lap as they did in AMS 1. I hope it arrives in the future.

    Could I run 6 real players + 42 AI cars to simulate myself and friends participating in a Daytona 24 hour race?

    That seems very fair, thank you for the reply! Whatever max player capability we end up having in multiplayer by the end of AMS2's dev cycle, as long as it's stable I'm ultimately happy with it. Sure it'd be cool to see gigantic grids, but if it breaks the game then not so much haha. Appreciate the honesty and the "quality over quantity" approach you guys have, quite literally in this case :D

    Good luck with wrapping up 1.6, can't wait to try it out!

    Is there any official confirmation there will be only 5 paid cars?

    Isn't that the 3rd track in one of the pictures in the op?

    I'm exited about the imminenet update but two things were not addressed - 1) the AI only using the SOFT tyre compound and 2) will there be AI driver swaps in IMSA?

    "Finally, the Audi R8 LMS Evo II which along with four other GT & Prototype models will be part of the Endurance Pack Pt2, also planned for release alongside with V1.6 for an estimated price of US$ 9.99." - May Dev Update. Maybe I'm reading it wrong and it means 4 GT & 4 Prototypes? That would be a treat

    As for the 3rd track, well, I don't see any sign of street circuits, so I suppose one of the images is Mosport? Can you point out which one it is?

    As a predominantly SP player with a love of endurance racing, this reads like an absolute dream, thank you so much to the whole team

    • 48 cars is a great number! I know not all tracks will support it (and maybe my computer won't) but any increase is great and I can plan my own championships accordingly
    • I already love the options for AI drivers and now it sounds like they're really coming to life. Watched the video twice all through but looking forward to more showing the multi class improvements
    • Shaders are looking super, Madness Engine has always had a little separation between the track and car where they don't quite 'fit' (don't get me wrong, still great and well optimised engine) but seems like the geniuses have finally found tvat
    • Looking forward to the audio improvements and the next diary
    • The black skins for the Lambo SC63 look badass, your 'fictional' skinners always do a great job thanks
    • Yey, Mosport is the third - you absolute legends - for anyone not aware, this is the back straight:

    I completely missed that, good spot! Makes me wonder if some things we know are for future DLCs, the next Endurance Pack 2 has expanded or if Reiza are going to be even more generous than usual with what's added to the base game at no extra cost.

    It's Mosport. The elevated marshal posts have those little blue roofs just like the one we see in the distance.

    Edit: And in the foreground is the shadow of the bridge crossing overhead.

    Good work on the netcode! I’m clad to hear that you were able to slim down on traffic. Can you also use this to deliver more fidelity than before at a similar rate? I’d love to see more detailed movements for opponent cars in multiplayer.
