Did some 15 lap races in different car classes on several tracks with mandatory stops without increasing tyre wear/fuel consumption.
As far as I can see, the AI finally obeys the rules. They all went in for a stop, nobody pitted in last lap and got a DQ. :)

My experience is very different. Just tried the Super V8, full power launch: instantly spins up the rears and red-lining.
    Same for FV12.
For context I tried in TT at Cascais.

I'm not saying there isn't a problem, but it's not occurring for all of us.

Was that in championship or single player? Thanks!

I think it's not whether the tyres light, but rather the speed at which grip and forward motion is achieved and normal service is resumed from that initial excessive input of energy.

The OP for this issue said:

I probably didn't explain fully enough, but I got pretty much what he suggested in the first paragraph. Along with the expected slithering and sliding from the backend. There was no bogging down, it hit the rev limiter and stayed there. Full speed was achieved in the sort of distance I would expect

Single race. In former builds, AI often did not pit or at least not in time when tyre wear and fuel consumption was set to 1x/standard in races with mandatory stops. This lead to many DQ at the end of the race.

Does anybody know, if the double livery bug (one AI has same livery as player whilst one is missing when number of AI is set to "max available") still is there in championship mode?

Thanks. I will run a quick test in championship mode cuz I've got the feeling pit Window is still broken there.

I confirm that it is still bad in the Championship, I have already commented on it several times and it seems absurd to me that it is only good in individual races. And it has been like this since the activation of mandatory stops in championships was fixed.

Anyone getting blue flag warning constantly? I let the cars go by and no matter how much i did...I still get the warning as soon as someone is behind me....so as a result I cannot race at all. Is this a bug?

If youre in singleplayer, no point running with flags etc as they only apply to you, not the ai. Ive yet to see an ai get a penalty for running over the grass, causing collisions, not following blue flags etc. Ive had them turned off for as long as I remember, especially as I have a clean HUD. In the absence of waved flags trackside and any integration with ai there's really not much point.

Nope. Not by me. If I dug into the code it would end poorly.

    Interesting, that's great to hear.
I have tried both cars post 1.3 but not since the last update. Maybe the 'Revised wheel spin inertia' has made a difference. I will try both cars again and report back.

Although they were the first to cars to come to mind when posting, they definitely weren't the only cars that have felt strange to me in this regard. But again, im not so sure since the most recent update. Im pretty sure i had the 'bogging down' launch with the Pro car more recently though.

Will keep an eye on it in the coming days when driving and report back.

Saw this article on the future of sim racing ai (which may come to gt7) and thought some people here may be interested.

Work by sony in data science and deep learning have allowed for the AI to truly be AI, as they now actually learn the tracks, learn to drive and learn race craft (and not just follow a set path and occasionally yeet the player off the track). Basically you now have to race the sophy ai, as opposed to get pass the moving chicanes that AI are at the moment in all games.

A press release is found here: TECHNOLOGY | Gran Turismo Sophy

A technical description is here: Outracing champion Gran Turismo drivers with deep reinforcement learning | Nature

That probably makes it sound cooler than it is but I'll hope for the best.

Are they going to be like the AI in PC2 that were unaffected by puddles, etc? Probably. We'll get there someday though. Now if you combined that with the AMS2 customization you'd have a winner. Use this super AI to dynamically generate the paths and implement the custom behavior parameters.

It’s true AI. They are taught the controls of the car, the rules/regs of the race, then learn to drive the track autonomously. It’s not just about lap time, they also learn racecraft, and how to react to other AI & human players.

To match the top Gran Turismo players they did the equivalent of 300,000km.

First race was in July when the AI was super aggressive with the lines and manoeuvres they would make.

They tuned the AI further for another race in October. They found the AI was still taking some different lines. Which the pro drivers started to adopt.

Sounds just like the Drivatars from Forza. And sometimes they really impress me, because they can take oncoming traffic and crossroads into account.

I just wonder how tolling this new AI with player equivalent physics will be for the hardware. I doubt it can run anyway close to decently on PCs that are not nuclear plants....
