Automobilista 2 V1.3.5.1 Officially RELEASED - Now Updated to v1.3.5.2

    It's not only single seaters. In a lot of GT cars and others like M1, M3, MB190, the dashbord is obstructed by the steering wheel. Shifting the camera -5 down and -5 back solves that... but... there is often a problem with the virtual driver thats clips the camera.

    I was driving the Formula Classic Gen3 Model 2 yesterday in VR. I couldn't see the rev counter and when to shift.

    Have you tried adjusting the camera pitch angle..?

    Z & X are the keys..

    ofc, hence why I asked if the seat position/angle is shared among some cars.

    Nevertheless, is there any reason why the default position/angle is not realistic?

    You can see the helmet can on that video is about 1cm or 2cm above the eyes, which means the drivers view is a even a little bit lower than what we see there. However the sims seem to choose to put the default eye level 10cm above what should be the correct one. Or, at least, the default angle chosen is simply wrong...

    Edit: obviously the greedy FOM won't allow the video to play in embedded mode...

    Seat position is saved per vehicle, camera pitch is currently global.

    Because when some mod car has the "realistic" onboard view on single-seaters, you can't see anything let alone the apexes so everyone instantly raises the camera by 10 cm.

    I often set the camera lower than the baseline value for realism and because it feels unnatural to me, in formula cars but not only. The truth is if you do that you won't see much out of the car, which is also true to real life, but most people won't like it...

    Alright, now I know why I have to keep adjusting things over and over again.

    Weirdly I feel uncomfortable with the seat too high, I like it as close to reality as possible and its alright most of the time. The only notable car that really requires the seat a little bit higher than I expect it to be irl is the F-Reiza, due to those ondulations on the nose cone.

    Ah, as a side note: steering wheels should not be rendered when turned off, as they can get way too large if we adjust the seat to fit our real life cockpit.

    Yes,and waiting for a long time for a reset button and displayed values for the camera pitch like in the seat position function.:(

    Automobilista 2 is now updated to v1.3.5.2 - this is a small complementary update to upgrade the Galeao track according to the latest references along with some other fixes & improvements.

    V1.3.5.2 CHANGELOG

    GENERAL
    • Added a 1s delay before ERS 'auto' mode is considered settled enough to be used as the new base mode for cycling mode (an overshoot into 'auto' now means a navigation up the stack will will select 'off' if done within 1s)
    • Added ERS deployment mode and clutch state information to shared memory

    UI & HUD
    • Added ERS Auto mode indication to HUD
    • Fixed ICM issue that only allowed selection of the first two pit strategies

    AUDIO
    • F-Retro G3 TE: revised cockpit engine & turbo; assigned proper interior AI sound

    TRACKS
    • Galeao: Revised track according to actual event references; adjusted track elevations between T1 and T2, replaced the startlight gantry to match one used in actual event; update static concrete barriers, walls and dynamic cones; adjusted AI collision corridors at the chicane

    VEHICLES
    • Uno (all cars): Added dirt map; Adjusted driver animation fingers position; Added vibrating bits on the cockpit; Adjusted the shift gaiter rigging
    • Corvette C3 - Livery override folder added
    • McLaren MP4/1C: Fixed tire side texture rotation issue
    • Metalmoro MRX P2: Added 1 new livery

    This is a great update to the track, it adds a lot of atmosphere and also helps you find your way around the track and where the line might be :) I also promptly crashed into the tire bundles in the chicane :D

    The FOV police probably have their own policy, but if you look at the immersion aspect, the 1:1 ratio will draw the hands closer and have the seat lower. The knuckles of the hands look like they obstruct the view, but drivers are looking way past to specific points on the track. (The motion blur tries to give the look-ahead view, but your wheel display gets blurred.) I think it depends on your goal. Immersion; you deal with barely seeing over the gloves and look around it. View advantage; you raise the seat to see more than one probably should. Hence, get an advantage on tight turns and chicanes. The latter will most probably, give you faster lap times.

    It's only me or something went wrong to the telemetry data since 1.3.5.2 update?
    I have validated my local files (1 error found and reuploaded by steam).
    Same issue regarding to the beta.

    Edit: Isn't updated shared memory version back compatible?

    I'm impressed by how quickly Reiza updated Galeão after the SCB broadcast. The new tyre stacks, the crest between T1 & 2, the cones, barriers, AI lines, etc., were studied, built, installed and tested in just a week. Great work, Reiza. :cool:
