Does anyone know when there will be developments on the online multiplayer system? ams2 is a great game, but absolutely wasted if you can't race with your friends, if you can't organize championships either, it has millions of bugs, it needs a lot of work!

Yes, it is here to stay... but should it?

I quitted iRacing after just a trimester and never invested a penny in rF2 or Raceroom because of their commercial models. I'm sure that am not the only one. AMS2 is already near my tolerance limit.

The thing is that maybe it is here to stay (as some others bad practices, as releasing unfinished games in a very barebone stage of development) but if at some point the developers don't do the due balancing the sim market, that is already small, will crash. Because things just tend to scale... will rFactor 3 charge for virtual fuel, tires and things like these? It's not that far from that.

You are 100% correct. Just as the microtransaction situation is so problematic.

'Early Access' is also a big issue at times, because of unfinished games being sold at full price.

    There are good and bad.

To defend RaceRoom a little bit, if you use their store points (VRP) and buy the Premium Pack during a sale, you can get *all* content that's out at the time of the purchase for about 65 € and have some points left over. That's the same price I paid for the AMS2 season pass on Steam.

From that point on you have to pay for individual pieces of content, but the pack is still a pretty good deal for anyone new to the game. The content purchased separately seems to be roughly 20-40 % cheaper on RaceRoom compared to rF2 without the extra discount from using the store points. You can also test drive every car before buying it and the base game is free.

The thing is: With much less than 65 € we used to bought full simulators and now we have to wait for promos.

I know that the racing sim market is completely changed, but how far will we accept to change even more. The """""joke""""" about paying for virtual fuel and tires is not far from reality because we both have some portable games already doing it and, some time ago, Turn 10 folks said something about doing it... in their case, there were a backslash from the player base, but bad ideas don't leave petty minds that easy. All it needs is only one of the current sim companies to try something more "ambitious" that the players accept and them all the others will be pushed into that. Them, all racing sims will be "car versions" of DCS World, where we will pay R$413 (the price for the F-14A/B or the F/A-18C... about U$80) for a single car (with a very contestable physics and overall performance).

It's in the corner... if you don't want this future, maybe sims as AMS2 and ACC are the only options.

I assume there are differences depending on region and currency used. The 65 € I mentioned is the price currently shown to me for 10,000 store points which is enough to get the Premium Pack.

I don't expect the racing genre as a whole to go to that extreme in pricing anytime soon, it would surely devastate the playerbase. But the world never ceases to surprise me, so who knows. If it does, well, I'll have to find a new hobby at that point and I won't be the only one.
