I agree that in general public lobbies aren't great, but in AMS2 the problem is especially bad and is compounded by the fact that there no core group of "aficionados" playing the sim seriously although "casually" rather than in leagues.
Most of public lobbies are made by people who don't have the first clue of the sim and the car they are driving so they just go MP to see what's around with no intention to really care about finishing a race.
In very rare occasions you can find someone with a minimum amount of race craft capabilities to at least stay on track while competing.
Until there is something that give focus (like competition servers etc.) to those who want to race decently it is unlikely to see around anything but mostly wreckers.
Also SR means almost nothing at the minute as does performance rating so in the actual context they are not really providing any filter.
Also, like I said, many start their experience in the sim on MP and on cars that are not easy to control, probably because they are coming from arcade games and just looking around. It would be better to lock MP use of certain cars to people that do not have enough MP races, enough SR and enough performance rating. This could also provide a bit of motivation in growing your account the same way you go through license classes in iracing.

One of the things that also helps is that iRacing has open voice chat, although there are always some that always have it off, majority of drivers have it on, so if you do something very stupid there is always someone to call you out on the stupid thing you've done.

Meanwhile AMS2 that no voice chat and also the rating thing has zero consequences anyway because there doesn't exist any server from what i have seen that would have it set ti anything above minimum.

Since most of us will just be waiting for an update of sorts and we're all sharing rigs/diy setups:

    20230303_155918~2.jpg 20230303_160052~2.jpg

2 stacks of concrete garden tiles 30x30cm finished with mdf boarding, all held together with a cheap yellow bonding paste from Bison.

The bucket seat just sits solidly on a 2-seater bench-style couch that cost me nothing. It pulls double duty as a dog bed with plenty of sweaters and blankets for him in the winter months, even though it's rarely ever that cold here. (He's a Jacky/Minpin mix with single coat, he makes nests out of things even in summer.)

Funny thing is, this works so well, and is so tuned to my needs that even now that I have the means to get nice kit and entire rigs and go out on trackdays and what not, I feel no need to.
Might invest some when I move though, but not before.

One problem when having locked cars:
Some cars which are meant to be a class for beginners are harder to drive than some pretty fast cars. Newbies to simracing might be frustrated very soon when being forced to drive with F-Vee and F-Trainer only in open wheel classes at the beginning, as those little buddies ( which I like a lot) are hard to handle for beginners (at least when driving aids like TC or ABS are banned in session). So, many ppl would give up playing AMS 2 quite soon.

This is my setup. Logitech G29 with the MVH Studios F1 Addon wheel and the loadcell mod from MVH Studios for the breakpedal.

Good idea, but definitely don't give it that title!
It will have the potential to go pear shaped very quickly.

I’d gladly work for free, if I was given the tools to fully sort out the trackside cameras for the major international tracks. I love doing this for tracks in AC. Replicating actual TV broadcasts (from a given year) as closely as I can.

    My RaceDepartment AC cams resume:

They already have a person doing this for years. The problem is not "sorting out the trackside cameras", it's camera bugs that make them zoom into trees or the void when you enter the trackside view or at random intervals. That has to be fixed by a programmer.

If it goes pear shaped, they should probably get it checked out by a doctor.

It could also be about manually altering the switch times, from when one camera switches to another(as well as the actual placements(on the x, y & z axis), which would be on the person implementing the switch(tools permitting).

Ultimately, it comes down to human input.

Could there be a single player and online server option:
    "Tyre Blankets - On / Off / Realistic" ?
It would affect tires during practice, qualifying and changing tires in the pits.

If comparing Cascais 88 / Estoril 88 with Formula 1 Estoril GP 1988, epsecially turn 2 and turn 3, there are some differences.
In turn 2 left hand armco was much more close to the track.
At exit of turn 3 the left hand curbs are a bit wider.
