Kept going through more combinations last night, more and more impressed with how it handles, even spotting some inaccuracies!

The Williams FW11...errr, sorry, Classic Gen 1 Model 1, is an impressive beast around Estoril 88. I was overjoyed making it fishtail like mad out of slow corners, controlling the angle of slides with throttle, trying to time the turbo lag through corners, which deeply affected the balance. It's a very dynamic car, responding to each and every of your inputs, demanding precision, but at the same time driveable enough to not be overly punishing.

It's still maybe too fast though. I maxed out wings for a Q run, and was reaching 334 km/h on the main straight, which is very high for this track and setup. I managed a 1:16.2 on real weather, which gave me a tiny bit of moisture and a puddle on T1. Pole by Senna was a 16.8, Mansell was 2nd with a 17.4. On ideal conditions, gap will be larger. IMO, drag penalty for max DF should be higher, I would expect for top speed to be some 20 km/h lower (I don't have speed trap data from Estoril 86 but I do know this is around 10 km/h faster than what they achieved at Spa the same season), which would shrink the gap towards historic laptimes. But is the only bad thing I have to say about this car, it's just amazing to drive.

So hopefully I am understanding this correctly and I think this is an overall positive change but if I wanted to reduce the kerb feel, it can now only be done via gain strength is that correct? The only other issue I have with the default and default + is the "jolting" or almost "hopping" feeling when going around high speed corners especially in FUSA 23 and P1. It isn't as noticeable in F1 ultimate Gen 2. I have played around with low force boost and dampening as well and those don't really seem to have an effect on these areas. I should also mention I am on a T300.

    How about "Canned Cheese"?

    On a more serious note:
I've been spending most of my play-time with the Formula Junior running various tracks in mixed conditions, what a Gem. It's also well suited to the speed of me. :D

Default+ ffb works really nice with this car. I still prefer a more progressive resistance curve in my ffb but, it's a significant improvement (imo).

long tail 962 mentioned, its time for me to cry about the hood damage on it again (the hood does not fall off on collisions like on the 962 short tail), and cry about the damage model on the Sauber c9 as well

Since we are on the topic of top speed, did you guys review the GT1s top speeds?

"At the finishing line at Estoril was a Longines speed trap and the Ferraris were well up the maximum speed list, but not so well up on lap times. On Saturday afternoon in qualifying Fabi recorded 201.5 mph in his Benetton, followed by Johansson at 197.9 mph in his Ferrari and third was Warwick with his BMW powered Brabham at 197.1 mph, followed by Senna’s Lotus-Renault at 196.9 mph. The ‘also-rans’ at the back of the grid were struggling to reach 185 mph, which gives you a sense of proportion."

Something I found for the 1986 GP

It allows more rotation for more precise movements. The other way means the wheel is more sensitive
