The V12 ran the full 1997 season, all races with the semi-works team in 1998 plus 2 races for the works team in 1998, the V8 was used at Le Mans and the 8 races after for the works team in the 1998 season and ironically it was extremely reliable everywhere but at Le Mans while Porsche was reliable at Le Mans and had a lot of trouble during the regular season.

The Ferrari was never going to be competitive against the Mercedes CLK GTR or probably the 1997 Porsche GT1 (even with the extremely unfavourable turbo restrictor changes, just like the McLaren who had to come up with the longtail version to have a chance to compete.

You can be certain, if Ferrari had the chance to win with that car, they would have run it but they were clearly not going to be competitive with a modified road car.

And the Maserati wasn't run early on mainly because of being a bit too wide if I remember correctly and Maserati wasn't willing to make these adjustments just for Le Mans which they weren't too interested in anyway. Later on they were a bit more into the idea, but GT1 folded before they were ready I believe.

EDIT: Also the Merc V12 was extremely unreliable and they knew from testing they could never run 24 hours with that engine. They had several problems during both seasons, especially with restarting.

So to have the full 1998 grid with the latest updated model from each manufacturer we are only missing the Panoz (if you ignore the Thunderflash mod) and the Lotus GT1 i guess

ferrari I'm talking specifically about Le Mans 1996, obviously 1997 onwards it wouldn't stand a chance, some private testing done by ferrari indicated the car was faster than the 333sp which in 1996 could mean a win in Le Mans, and part of me wonder what woulda happened if they made a "evo" version of the f50 to try to beat porsche and mercedes

Maserati it was really just a dumb decision from their end, they woulda easily beat the DBR9 and the C6R if they tried

probably because it needs a game update first, as i also mentioned in my post, they might have just already added it today, because they cant add dlc to the steam store in the weekend

Maybe because it is aimed to be compatible with version 1.4.8 but this version is not officially released yet?

1998 Le Mans also had the Toyota and a BMW prototype.

I wish they did a late '90s LM DLC like we have with the CART with 1997, 1998 and 1999.

Those years were rich with different manufacturers with several iterations of cars.

Isn't The Adrenaline Pack the final offering in the 2020-22 Season Pass? If so, everything that drops prior to that piece of DLC should be included. If you look at all the available DLC, the Season Pass was good value.

Problem for Ferrari was never the speed of the car. It was the fact that the FIA went back with their word and would allow works teams.

Works teams were forbidden in the BPR series, thats why the 911 GT1 ran as a non points scorer in 1996. Ferrari was counting on it staying like this, and the F50 GT was a car supposed to be sold to privateers. But when they heard that works teams would be involved, they canned the project, because they didnt want their privateers to fight works teams, hence not even the F40s showed up anymore.

In the IMSA WSC works teams were not allowed either, hence why ferrari backed the 333SP production.

You are 2 weeks away from the next Steam sale. Might be worth asking for a refund and buying it as part of a pack. The standlaone track will likely cost the same as now.

Okay, after DL game menu shows "Failed to load setup" and "Failed to save data" errors. All settings seem to be gone.... Doing a Steam verify now...
    Anyone else experience this?

What failed in the V8 was not the engine per se. It was an ancilliary, specifically the hydraulic pump, more specifically the pin falling off it!

Remember, that engine was the very same they used in the Group C years, with the turbos removed, reworked to the current regulations and modernized. It could absolutely stay on one piece for 24 hours.
