That's also the default setting. Nice, still takes time get used to any automatic shifting.

Group C was one of the last categories in AMS2 to receive its updated tires, physics, and AI. Based on a race I just finished at Kyalami Historic, it was worth the wait. Wow.

Couldn't of said it better myself. Connected is the perfect word to describe how I feel about this update so far . The Caterham and BMW 2002 turbo have been totally transformed in my opinion, no longer do the front wheels feel independent of each other, no more zig zagging down a straight because it would simply not drive in a straight line under mild acceleration.
Im an old guy who grew up driving mk2 rs escorts and can honestly say this is now the best approximation of driving I've ever experienced! Love it , thanks so much Reza and all the beta testers for all your hard work.

Did you ride with the 'vette GTP? If so, how did it feel?

Depends on the car, as launch control isn't properly tuned yet for some of them. F-V10 gen2 is the one to use to experience how it should work.

Automating up-shifts made sense because in a race car you are up-shifting under full acceleration almost all the time. The computer simply removes the chance of human delay or error and optimizes the shift point every time. (Watch videos of sim racers and see how often the rev limiter gets hit signifying waiting too long to shift...it's very often.)

Down-shifting on the other hand has to be co-ordinated with and the timing varies from lap to lap with various types of braking and corner entry, and if done too abruptly can upset the balance of the car, so most preferred to do that themselves.

The system in a fully-automatic car like the road-going C8 Corvette nicely mimics a "track mode" where these cars typically have several transmission shifting modes to select from, with track being the most aggressive and not suitable for normal driving on streets. You can also just shift manually overriding the system at will but leaving it activated, just as in the real car, or, switch it to fully manual (in the garage set-up screen) and shift yourself, just as in the real car.

They were used mostly with only upshift in auto in real life. Some times they would use also downshift for comfort at the end of races.

Saw the update happen. Downloaded and got ready to fire it up. Then I realized I need to go get groceries. I know I'll be up to the wee hours and that I'll get hungry. Yeah, I got cheese.

Other than the fact that the Group C turbos had a distinct advantage at Kyalami, the Vette felt good out on the track.

Watching GPLAPS running a full distance f1 race is the single best advertisement for this update and AMS2.

Just blown off my socks right now! First of all thanks to the whole team at Reiza for doing such an outstanding job and following your passion! Secondly a big thanks to the beta testers for hanging in there and providing valuable feedback to the crew.

There will always be folks that aren’t happy with what they get or impatient when things don’t move fast enough (maybe something intrinsic with [sim] racing drivers ;) ). Don’t get distracted and keep doing what you’re doing!
Except for tonight. Tonight I’ll hope that all of you celebrate this great release. It’s well deserved.

    edit:
for sure not everyone cares about this but the nicest thing for me in this update is that you can experience the evolution of the early 90s F1 cars season by season in a single game. Turning from „tricky to control“ to „absolute monsters“ within a few years.

I'm not a professional at Sim Racing, but I did 2 complete races with the Stock car pro series 2023, and I have to thank Reiza studios, the AI, it's perfect, I raced in rattlesnake with AI at 120% and obviously, I was in the position 25 out of 30 cars, but all under 0.900 seconds. Congratulations Reiza, for your work and dedication.

    Amazing work! Some comments:

I raced online on Montreal 1991 and Barcelona 1991. I want to give my praise to the track designer specifically this time. Because you proved that it IS possible to design tracks without flickering textures in VR ! These tracks has been flawlessly executed, no flickering textures. The new tracks look and drive absolutely perfect in VR. Really impressive work.

This gives hope for the other tracks in the game, I hope that Dolph's great comments about this subject in the beta section get the needed attention one day(+the other not yet named tracks of course such as Long Beach which need a complete visual remake because of this issue).

The physics/FFB are amazing, I tried the M1 Procar and the Formula Hitech Gen1 MP4/7. Wow what a drive.

One massive downside is that the "metal sparks" look still really really horrendous in VR(maybe even worse than before..). One part is rendered correctly under the car in terms of placement but is only rendered in ONE panel of the VR HMD. The second panel renders the same metal sparks ~15-20 meters to the right of the car. This looks really terrible even in daytime racing. In fact, it ruined my raced so badly that I had to quit the race. It just looked like the whole image had artifacts all over the place. So I really hope that the metal sparks could be fully removed until they are fixed.

Or PLEASE give us VR users the option to disable them. If it's difficult to implement this in the game menu's then please let us download the *.bff files that has transparant images or whatever for the metal sparks so that they aren't rendered in VR. So that we can download these files and overwrite them in the gamedirectory. Because it's such a shame that all these great (new DLC content even) F1 cars couldn't be played properly in VR because of this issue.

Fot the rest nothing but praise, everything that I've drive so far was great, better then any other sim out there for me. Thanks for the dedication to the whole team, this game/sim is made out of passion this could be seen everywhere.

Stop giving me hope for more Indycars, (Panoz DP 01). You wrote Formula USA Gen4 again. I realize it is the Formula USA 2023 but my heart skips a beat every time you make this mistake.;)

AI pace and behavior all around Cadwell Park is 1000% improved in the MiNI Challenge … prior, blatant player advantages at turns 11/12 & The Mountain, The Hairpin, and Coppice, for example, are long gone. Nice work, Reiza.

I appreciate the improvements, especially at Interlagos, but i note that the pit area and the grandstand above remain outdated, i hope that our temple of speed is updated in this part as well as soon as possible. ;)
