@Djangopass What car(s) in real life has an in-car adjustable turbo boost?

Right now we have a boost button that can be mapped for the older generation open-wheelers that had a literal boost button to temporarily increase the boost pressure. This was a button, because if the higher pressure was left active/permanent, the engine life would decrease dramatically/it wouldn't last for the length of a race (and often did not anyway!!).

That button also works as a "push-to-pass" system for some series (whether it is turbo-related or not).

These are often limited by the race series as to when and how many times you can use them. And, most turbo cars do not have one of these buttons, just to be clear.

The boost function is missing from some hybrid models, but hopefully coming at some point.

This is Peter Zakowski, owner of Zakspeed racing team, fiddling with turbo boost in his Group 5 Ford Capri :p But yes, this isn't normal nowadays :D

The sound of this thing is *chef's kiss*

I need to check my f1 car by car book, but I know in the 80s at least the top teams had adjustable turbo dials inside the car, as they needed to heavily manage fuel consumption to be able to end the races.

It was fairly common for boost adjustment throughout this 80s era although in the late 90s in GT1 it was not permitted whilst in motion..

As you mentioned the '80 F1 cars Turbo version. If this is the Boost button is fine for me. Just to know.

OMG! That's the in-car audio we need!
It's like HDR for racing audio.
Distortion / compression issues aside (as with most in-car videos), the shear range of the engine tone / pitch / volume conveyed in this video is staggering. Also, note the interior resonance.

Ya, audio is a bit messed up. This is another onboard with a slightly 'cleaner' sound. There's something about small 4-cylinder engines with lots of boost, they're great. I hope we'll see some of these incredible machines come to AMS2, would be awesome.

Are there enough vehicles in the game with it to justify adding to the UI?

Also the video nicely shows the barrier out to the apex of the left hand turn at the start of the 24 hour layout that is missing from the AMS2 version of the track. For example at timestamp 8:19.

Perhaps given the recent focus on preventing AI going off track / cutting corners in avoidance of the player that corner could be brought in line with reality. It's such a distinctive characteristic of that part of the real track.

006tg184.jpg I've been hoping for cockpit adjustable boost pressure for the 1980s F1s for a long while. The 83 turbos had it IRL, and it was used more for fuel saving than turning up the power during races. Hell, I'd be happy with boost guages for most of the 80s F1 turbos - only a couple of models have working boost guages at present.

You gotta love the look of the old non-digital cockpits, they seem to be the result of: “I visited one-legged Larry at the scrapyard and I found all I needed! Here it is!”

Nothing was polished or meant to look good, it just needed to work -and half of the time it did not- which works well for nostalgia, but probably was pretty frustrating as a driver ;)
