Pot meet kettle. My agenda was simply to have an extra option. I really have no idea what yours was.

    FFB is really great now:
When hitting another car (he was braking a bit too early for me:eek:) the steering wheel moved around and hurt my thumb:confused:. Damn, this was painful.

OK, maybe I misread it. If that's the case. My bad and my apologies. Not the first time. Old and grumpy in equal measure.

If can be made, a setting of max visible cars with headlights on BEHIND player will be nice, range from 0-31 and everybody can be happy. I believe is hard to mess around in graphics engine to makes just some cars behind to really cast light that Interact with other objects (limit this number will be even better).

I'd be right up there interested in doing tests for a 60 car grid and see what might be causing issues. And like you said have it clearly writen as a special checkbox "experimental / unstable".

I wonder if there is any merit to the system automatically turning some graphics settings down when headlights are turned on, like say "grass density or trackside detail", stuff that gets harder / less visible in the dark.

I tried to lower pretty much everything which is eye-candy (grass, particles, density, car detail, track detail, env map and reflections) but the impact of having 1-2 cars behind or 6-8 is much higher and detrimental.
The only thing that actually makes it smooth in every situation (to me) also at night (with 12 cars max visible) in vr, is to put MSAA off and steamvr SS at 100%. (which makes it quite bad with oculus rift cv1)
    (for information, I have a 9900kf@5GHz and 3090)

Will blue flag behaviour and flag rules for AI ever be impemented?
Right now, it is just a joke. Ruining the lap of faster cars on their in- and outlaps in qualifying seems to be the only goal of the AI.
Pushing like hell on straights, then camping in the middle of corners, steering into opponents intead of letting them pass. And they never ever get a penalty.

Not all series use blue flag behaviour so it might have to be changed per series

Honestly the big grid hack of using cheat engine is way more stable and works better for whatever reason, even if it is a massive pain in the ass to do. I've seen people run as many as 90 cars (granted on a i9 with a 4080) using the cheat engine hack.

The official attempts at running bigger grids where... interesting to say the least. HUD's stopped working, AI cars stopped using their brake lights and head lights, lots and lots of CTD's. Its a shame because performance wise, once (and if) you got into a race the performance FPS wise was perfectly stable.

As to why the Hack works better, IDK.

Maybe the hack bypasses whatever goes haywire so maybe the bug can be found that way..

In AMS 2, there is no blueg flag behaviour in ANY class. And no rules for the AI, they do whatever they want without getting penalties.

I thought that blue flags in qualli were Information only, like for multi-class.

You can turn enforced blue flags on in the rules and the AI will move out if the way, but its something that is again being modified from build to build.
