Holy hell Bruno. How do you not understand that implementing what you're suggesting would be way more effort than it's worth? What we have is already a very good compromise between practicality and realism.

You seem to think that changing the high/low DF versions is as easy as the devs switching "numberOfAero = 2" to "numberOfAero = 1". That is not how game development works, period. Renato (who had no obligation to put in as much effort as he did in his answer) has already written an excellent response detailing the technical and financial considerations in implementing such a feature.

I genuinely do not understand why you're so hung up on this. It's such a minor thing, literally no one else is complaining about this, and yet you're so vehement on this topic.

 

Thank you for clarifying but you should also read more carefuly because I only reacted to that one bit I've quoted from you which implied that real life teams have the same aero range at Monaco as at Monza. That part is wrong. I didn't refer to AMS2. But I'm affraid this is getting totally off-topic and I don't want to litter this thread even further. Cheers!

 

I'm not complaining, because it isn't a big issue but It would have been nice to have one car which could be setup for low or high downforce. so that a stepless transition from high to low is possible and we can experiment a bit more.
I think it should be possible to be faster with a high downforce setup on a track where I only can use a low-downforce setup now, (maybe it is possible to let us choose whether we want to use the high or the low downforce car, but one car that can do both would be the best)

A much more pressing issue that needs immediate action: why do kart drivers model in AMS2 have hans device?

It’s good that the karts are mentioned, but jokes aside, amongst all these physics updates, can someone recall if the rental karts physics were also updated? I believe that reiza didn’t have time to have a look yet? Are they running with pre 1.5 physics? I might try them out over this weekend, but I cannot recall if physics were updated or not for the rentals.

Yes, all karts have received physics work, but AI still problematic in more situations than desired.

I've read where it said the AI uses just a singular tire compound at least for now, but would it be possible for the AI to have one tire compound but at least a randomly assigned color from the choices ? It would at least give the illusion of the AI using different tires rather than them choosing always super-soft tires for a 1 hour race.

Thanks Racinglegend1234 and Marc Collins for the quick feedback, it’s appreciated. Now I remember Marc, I had issues in my custom championship on Rental karts back in January, the AI was always having problems to cope with hairpins in Granja Viana track, they would hit each other, and sometimes block the track, you’re right. Eventually this will for sure be sorted too. Will try this weekend. Thanks

A great example of something not to spend dev time on, when the alternative is to use resources to fix the actual issue and have the AI use different compounds.

 

They’re better than I thought

 

Try again, though...there is significant improvement. Rentals now have tires more likely to be found on rentals and the race karts have varying quality race slicks. But, I have run into many AI issues still with certain combos. Other combos are good, though.

RCO is very nice place to race online, still need more drivers from ams2 community but we already can have fun at end of the day when most of drivers are there.
