Was the weather set to random? I find with real weather I get changeable weather at any time during a race, but when using slots it seems fixed for the hour, at least in championship mode.

And how many weather slots were you using?

How do you set weather to random without using slots? Or, if you use only one slot, do you expect it to change during the session?

I am referring to pre-made custom championships that uses random weather, it doesn't show you how many slots its using.

If I make my own custom championship I usually use the real weather because it gives better results over a race weekend and during the race, than using random slots.

With real weather, no slots are available.
The randomness is an emergent property of "current date" ;).
It's such a simple and effective concept, I cannot understand why don't ALL SIMS adopt it in design fase.

Unfortunately the pre-made championships don't use real weather, but instead use random weather slots. This leads to a far less immersive experience, with sessions being one kind of weather or another and not carrying over to the next session.

I understand that the use of random slots for the pre-made custom championships were put in place to give variety when rerunning a championship. However if the option to use real weather and to set the date was put in place we could add our own variety when rerunning championships.

My own solution is to create my own custom championships and use the real weather option, but I cannot filter the rules and tracks when making these championships even though this is possible when setting up a single race.

Hopefully this will be rectified in the future, the championships are a great feature of AMS2 and keeps me interested in the sim, it really could do with some polish to make it a true gem that would make AMS2 stand out from other sims.

The ability to run these championships online with friends would really be an attractive feature for many.

Of course RealWeather should have no slots...it's supposed to be real weather! We are referring to randomized weather--using the regular slots. The "random" choices should follow the same transition timing as if manual selections are used (but of course more difficult to verify when random could produce the same choice in two successive slots or pick two things that are barely distinguishable, etc.). The issue is whether multiple slots can be chosen or are being chosen in a championship...and is the game obeying them?

Speaking of real weather, I really wish there was an actual preview of what the weather was somewhere in the weather selection UI.

Agree, but it should be an option to show it or not, as with other options (like randomized). Some people want to control and/or see the complete weather in advance. Others want some element of surprise. However, in a real race (team), it is never a blank slate--there is always some reasonable expectation and forecast percentages to work from in advance of the session. That being said, it's a game, so if a user prefers a complete roll of the dice, no reason not to allow for that.

I usually have races at 15h00...
This saturday I went for a race at Interlagos with FU2 (yes, I'm a very creative person :D).
I was surprised by heavy rain and recall the F1 spring race been overcast but not raining at all.

I did my thing and only on Sunday I realized the F1 race qualify was postponed due to have rain...
It clicked!!! Yes, I was doing my race at about same time the F1 qualify was about to happen...

With or without UI indication, it's a great feature!

I do agree, but sometimes I just don't want to race in the rain, so I want the randomness, but not rain necessarily. I would still prefer it if you could see it, it's not like you can not just roll with whatever you get.

Many have suggested something like this in a different way. Choose random, but have a sub-set of check boxes for the type(s) of weather you do not want to factor in to the randomized mix. Since some of the weather types, like thunderstorm with lightning or heavy fog, result in a red flag (i.e., they are not raceable in real life), it would be nice to be able to exclude them. Of course, like all options, everyone could include or exclude whatever selections they want, such as regular rain, for whatever reasons.

Also result in heavy performance drops even on a 4090 in VR.

Yeah,100%. Make the historical weather visible (you see what you are choosing), and give an extra random option with filters.

Whilst I agree it should be visible, perhaps it'd be better as a forecast for the race duration, ie. Fine, mixed 20% chance rain/fog, bad 90% chance heavy rain/thunderstorm/fog. Or even better the options to choose entirely visible, forecast, hidden.

A real time weather radar would be a nice feature, if crew chief could pick up on the telemetry and pass on the info, such as ' we are expecting rain in 10 minutes' etc. It would be a very immersive experience.

Ever since the iRacing exclusive rights to make Nascar games i was worried it meant that they have the rights for any Nascar content going forward. Seeing as the last Forza game just got Nascar cars and tracks i am hoping that AMS2 will still release a few more oval tracks and especially a stock car because at just 4 tracks it is not enough. Given that Homestead, Texas and Charlotte have road courses too it would be a nice balance.

Agree with Homestead ans Charlotte but we need a short track like Bristol, Martinsville or Dover. Bristol is great IMO
