FFB internal logic had several calculations which historically were used, but since sometime in between patch 1.4 and 1.5 were not having influence on ffb signal, but were ran in code. These were left like that for possible re-use.

Quite some time ago, we were absolutely sure we don't need these, hence removal - less stuff for cpu to do.

FYI folks a "silent" hotfix was deployed just a few minutes ago, it´s essentially minor fixes and improvements to the STTs and its custom track layouts, particularly for the AI.

I tried VR earlier today, but I can't really say if it's better or not since I've mostly been playing AMS2 in 2D lately. At least it doesn't feel worse.
I can't wait to get a better video card, my 4070 is a bit weak for displaying clear visuals on my Quest 3.

Unfortunately in VR with this latest version it is worse. My benchmark is: 8 cars, rain, Brands Hatch.

before the update it was smooth at 72fps@2688x2784

after the update... no.... I've got stutters.

Is there any chance of doing this for all cars? Particulary for oval racing the minimum lock is way too much and even on some other tracks too. I´d also like to again request brake pressure and steering lock not be fixed in fixed setup lobbies as these are more to do with controller than car setup.

Ah - so i am just hallucinating when I feel the feedback is better. Thank you for being clear!

I think only a few production cars have steering lock fixed at a high setting, most of the race-dedicated vehicles should have it adjustable, certainly all that have oval variants do. If there is any specific you have in mind let us know and we´ll check it out.

WRT to unlocking driver preference options (such as steering lock & brake pressure) for fixed setup races, this has been on the task board or a long time already but it´s a bit more elaborate change than it might appear on the surface which is why it hasn´t been done yet - but will be.

Maybe something to look into: One issue I'm struggling with in regard to the STT's are with motion effects when hitting jumps and landing. I've yet to find motion settings where the suspension effects are conveyed as I'd expect based on my experience in Rally titles (RBR / EA WRC / DR2). Currently, I can feel the ramp compression as the tires make contact but, there is almost no rebound to compression phase upon landing, and what little is there seems delayed.

NAMeS has been updated to match the removal of the "h" in the STT livery names.

14 minimum is still quite high for race cars. If it is not hardbaked into the game then allowing that to be reduce to 9 or 10 min for all cars would be great. That way damping can be reduced a lot and there is less tyre scrub.

    PHYSICS
    • Minor tire tread adjustments to LMDh/GTP, LMP2 (both gens), DPi, P1 (both gens), P2, P3, P4, GTE, GT3 (both gens), GT Open, GT4, G55 Supercup, Porsche Cup, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Copa Montana, Hypercars, Supercars, Caterham 620R, Superlight, Supersport, ARC Camaro
    • Further adjustments to slick compounds´ sensitivity to wet surface
    • Slightly increased default rear wing setting for various GT3 cars, Ginetta G55 (all variants),
    • GT3 Gen2: Further BoP pass to V10 powered models; Corrected error in Lamborghini Low Downforce variant giving it an extra 4% power (SETUP RESET RECOMMENDED)
    • Montana: Fixed excessive engine sensitivity to frontal damage
    • Mercedes EVO2 DTM Gr.A: Corrected error in rear left tire pressure setting
    • Lotus 23: Reduced rear brake cooling
    • Audi R8 GT4: Revised FFB
Kudos on all the further physics adjustments included in the latest release. All the cars I've driven from those listed above are all incrementally, but notably, improved. Thanks, Reiza, for not leaving "good enough" alone.

I think the entire game would benefit with a setting like this, not necessarily for realism but for accessibility. There's a lot of cars that are reaaaally twitchy on steering, even on a wheel - I can't possibly imagine on a gamepad. I know the game wasn't built to be necessarily optimal on gamepad, but still, it'd be a nice quality of life option for those cars who are a little harder to tame. Maybe something in the assists tab? I know it would not be realistic, but I personally don't think there's anything harmful with letting players enjoy all of the content in the game in the way they want to enjoy them.

EDIT: I realized I replied to the wrong post, I meant to add this to your latest reply, not this comment! I haven't got much sleep last night, stayed up watching the Australian GP Qualifying :D

I've tested quite a few cars and I found it to be very inconsistent, some cars feel like they have no force acting against them, or at least not in the amount that they should be. Some are very fast to tip over, but even when they do, they never really flip forward entirely, they just slide in the air at 60~70 degrees for a while before they hit the ground, and when they do, they bounce around a lot as if they're made out of rubber. This inconsistency remains noticeably weird regardless of the cars you drive, high or low downforce, fast or slow, big or small, they just behave very unpredictably, which makes racing cars other than the super trucks a bit more difficult. Hopefully this is something they keep working on!

Surely driving any cars other than the SST and RX, over the ramps, should destroy them.

I don't think anyone is gonna disagree with you there, but try them out yourself and once you find yourself bouncing like this you'll understand what I mean :D

It also felt better on my end. Maybe the improvements to physics enhanced the feeling with the wheel?

The other guess, based on how I imagine it works, is that it is able to update the wheel at a higher frequency because it has less to do? not sure. Would love any more detail from the team as I find this stuff fascinating. I am willing to believe it is just placebo as I am well aware that subjective feel of analogue signals can be extremely variable (see audiophiles)
