I ran cars I have not had setups for, and my own..... all run the same, as in lap times and how they drive. Lap times still close to identical as before. (I only run/test at Spa, as it covers all corner types and I know every bit of it like the back of my hand - whether on track, curbs, clipping grass etc.
You can drive a wide range of 'ways' to still get the same best lap times. You can race 'properly' or race drifting more.
Not turning well enough? Hit more throttle!! Overdoing that a bit? Back off a bit and it will fix the excess and still hold on fine.
Or.... 58.0% front brake bias, brake long into a turn and you can rotate as much as you want.... way too much, easily, for just 42% rear brake bias.

Spa Eau Rouge..... I can race 'properly' with SOME rear rotation used..... or I can race 'excessively' with huge rear drift, for the same maintained lap time (delta down the straight after). Just change the TC level for whichever case you intend to use there. (lower for clean, higher for drift)

It just allows way too much slip angle before detriment ever turns up. But then it is gone.... mainly because there is no feedback at all in the FFB for the rear end.
Even the front end has very poor FFB information about grip - the steering doesn't even go 'light' on understeer etc.
But you just learn all the responses - predicting - 'parrot fashion', so you know what you can do (maximums) without issue, and the huge leeways of slip angle mean you don't even need to get that particularly accurate (prediction, parrot fashion).
AMS2 (GT3 at least) has become something F1_24 like. Good for arcade players.....

Do you have a video of you drifting and still getting the same lap time?

I wouldn't be able to do any of that stuff he describes... Not since like version 1.4 or something, and even then.
Maybe on ice cold tires, or something is off on his end with the install.

it doesn't matter. When the underlying physics changes as in a new tyre model, all the base setups which are tuned according to those physics no longer match and hence give weird unpredictable results, which even may include no effect or a better result.
Just try one of the cars you complained about, go to setups and reset set it and see how that compares to what you experienced before.

Just wanted to say with almost everyone seemingly talking about the GT3s:
The Lamborghini Super Trofeo seems to be a bit under the radar, it feels absolutely fantastic with the new update especially. I really urge you guys to try it if you haven't yet after the update, so good :)

That, and it might be worth mentioning the LiveTrack situation also.
I've found "default progressing" to work best for me.
"Green" felt like an ice rink, not sure about "medium/heavy rubber".
I feel this is a huge issue when people jump into ams2. It's not like other sims that barely simulate a dynamic track surface.
You jump straight in, cold track and "green" preset, it's gonna be a wild ride.
You can even be in conditions where you can barely get your tires into the optimal temp range, which needless to say makes a huge difference in handling in ams2.

Default progressing LiveTrack preset and a setup reset is what I'd start with.

That said, especially, since i have a custom setup pro here:

I drove an AMG GT3 on a hotlap yesterday and what i was very aware of was that if, drifting occurred, there was like NO response in the ffb. Used the standard + or the normal i think.
That was disapointing, i mean, if you're sliding over the concrete there should be a response (like a scrubbing effekt) no? It was like nothing happens. No outout anymore while sliding, and this feels smeary.

Not sure what happened with the custom ffb and i dont know even which one it is, but it certainly felt better but not really good.

I also got a big performance hit with this update. GPU AMD 6950xt, playing with Quest3 at 90 FPS. My settings before this patch were adjusted just enough to race at any time of the day with full grid, with occasional frame lost at sunset or with rain, but bearable. Now I got huge FPS drops in some situations:
    • Interlagos multiplayer race yesterday, on turn 10 "Bico de Pato" the game always stutter, basically on every single lap. Weather was good, at around sunset race. I also had the feeling that the reflections on the road were too exaggerated (it was dry after all), but I save the replay and in the monitor it looks fine. So maybe there is something here weird going on, since with VR the racing line was reflecting like it were wet, but road was completely dry, not a cloud on the sky as well.
    • Multiplayer race today on Spielberg old layout (year 74 I believe), at daylight with perfect weather: huge frame drops always at the last corner. Strangely in the qualifying session performance was ok, and it was no due to cars since I was often during the race alone (and the qualifying was with all cars simultaneously anyway). Furthermore trees were flickering like crazy when far away (not on that corner)
    • Now singleplayer, I am running a GT3 Championship with 1 hour races, time x25. I did a test around Le Mans with a shorter race just a few days ago (but also day and night cycle) with 48 cars and had no performance issues. Championship consists on only 40 cars. Just a couple of hours before the update, I raced on Spa with no performance issues, even if it was partially raining at time. Next race is actually Le Mans after the update. I had performance problems all over the place in the moment I was close to a few AI cars.
    • On another note, I was very impressed on my very first race after the update, since I was not expecting to have yellow headlights on the GT3 Porsche that just one day before were white. It looks really cool, and had a very immersive moment when I had an AI car behind also with yellow lights, being my cockpit all illuminated in yellow. Very nice. On another note, I thing the glow of the LED lights, at least in the Porsche GT3 gen2 is very exaggerated during the day (although looks fine during the night). With good weather and plain daylight, lights do not glow like that (at least, to my eyes).
That's about it. I would like to say something about the improvements on tire model or so, but I actually do not feel such a difference as others apparently do. I liked the handling before and I still do. I'll wait until next patch to see if I actually need to decrease my graphical options (again, since this happened already to me with 1.6) to meet the same performance I had before.

I am not necessarily talking about for lap time but to stop the excessive front end pivot that people used to complain about. There was a hack to changed engine braking from 2 to 8 to make the front more balanced on turn in, i tried it and it worked very well.
