I think the TAA when using triple monitors is a little broken. There doesnt seem to be any TAA on the side monitors

Did you have a way of monitoring engine temps. Had this happen on a hot day on one of the Brazilian tracks with multiple AI R8s, like half them, gong to the pits multiple times and retiring. All the other LMP1s where fine including my R8 after opening the Radiator to 95% noticing the engine was getting hot in quali. IDK if it's still a bug or not or has something to do with an AI stat with then not fixing the overheating issue after the first pit, but yeah.

Personally i wouldn’t take much stock from what he says here, this is a bit of a throwaway comment ,
based on some videos i’ve seen he possibly has too strong of opinions or choice of words, compared to his self admitted ignorance in terms of understanding what cars should be capable of.
A Porsche isn’t going to feel the same as some others in class and this is to be expected .
they all have different strengths and weaknesses.
Based of obvious differences, which perhaps he doesn’t fully touch on .

As a gamepad player that tries to understand the limits of grip with no feedback other than the power of hopes and dreams, I never understand ANYTHING you guys post about car handling/physics, lol. I used to try and use the audio cues from tires/etc to find the limit, but after 300+ hours, I wholeheartedly believe that the tire sounds in this game are provided as a practical joke and was forced to disable them for the sake of lap times :)

I just assume all of the feedback posted here should be taken at face value, but I would be lying if I said that it ever felt like there was a consensus opinion. I guess as long as someone is still having a good time, there isn't much harm in letting them believe whatever.

I don't envy anyone at Reiza as it seems like there are 300 different ways to play AMS2 between single monitor, multi-monitor, VR, direct drive wheels, belt wheels, gamepads, dildos, shaker devices, sequential shifters, h-patterns, and DRS buttons. Trying to manage that many different sets of expectations must be a daunting task and I can see scenarios where two players come to differing conclusions on the same subject while both are correct at the same time. The best recent example is the negative feedback against TAA where many users say it adds game-breaking blur or looks/runs much worse than MSAA (where on my single monitor, it is a monster upgrade over MSAA).

I see so many different hardware combos and combinations of wheels/bases and the endless futzing that the community does with both of the official FFB profiles and endless custom FFB profiles. I don't really see how it could be possible to interpret anyone's honest feedback through the lens of so many variables.

Don't worry too much about what some streamers say or claim. No simulation is truly realistic.

It would probably require a separate engine to be programmed for every car/track/tire/weather combination to make those conditions stand out significantly from others.

Instead, we have a single engine and swap out "a few" parameters to represent different vehicles, tires, and weather conditions.

At the same time, we use the same toy steering wheel at home to simulate different vehicle classes. This whole thing isn't really worth arguing about. Actually, it's not even worth a real discussion.

...I'm going to buy myself an expensive new mouse so Counter-Strike finally becomes realistic ;D

I wonder how much practical experience these guys actually have with real-world car behavior. For instance, it’s funny how people compare a sim’s “head movement” with real car footage, as if human vision could somehow be compared to a camera. Many don’t even have a driver’s license, and unlike Max, Lando, or Kimi Antonelli (who arrived at F1 without a driving licence), they haven’t been driving cars at the limit since they were five years old.
Why should someone with 38 years of real driving experience take the word of someone who was sim racing in third-person view a few moons ago?

That should be sufficient — the engine itself should accurately represent the underlying physics model of the world, hence the term physics engine. Vehicles are simply entities that exist within that defined reference space.
When parameters such as the center of gravity (mass distribution), the geometry of tire contact patches relative to the CoG, tire adhesion characteristics (tire model), and suspension variables (contact patch and CoG variance) are modified, the resulting vehicle dynamics should fundamentally change - that's what sims do.
Of course, this is a simplified view of the overall simulation architecture, but it’s sufficient to produce realistic vehicle behavior (position, inertia, contributing forces and rotation).
As it stands, AMS2 is still missing a few key elements to take it to the next level.

I would say the Porsche was the only car that felt a bit loose and off compared to the others in 1.6.8.5 and it really benefits from the 1.6.8.6 adjustements.

All GT3s got really improved with the recent updates, I think the Corvette might be the biggest winner with how well balanced it feels. The Aston and M4 are always a blast to drive since you have to work a bit more with the brake to get rotation because of their understeery front engine behaviour.

I think arguing the others should feel like the Porsche is weird, since with it's rear engine it's the one that should feel the most loose with it's agility. It's the whole point of this class that each car has it's unique characteristics you have to adjust to to be fast - And you will always end up with cars you prefer and cars you dislike because of that

I did but I never really looked, I was on different pages on my dash, I only lasted four or five laps before engine blew up, track temp was around 45 Celsius. Didn't seem to be an issue in P or Q even though was hot then too but it also was not getting to the rev limit in top gear in those sessions either, don't know why it did in the race.

Has anyone else noticed — specifically with the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO 2 — a slight delay or sluggishness?

I’m currently practicing for Monza in a championship. A few days ago, without any setup, I managed to hit a 1:45.600, but now I can barely get close to 1:46.100.

I’ve been practicing on this track for several days, and I haven’t noticed any clear change in the car itself, but I’m struggling to reach my previous lap times. I’m starting to suspect the car might have been nerfed somehow.

Same for me with the F-Junior since weeks...but someday it will be corrected for sure.

I had seen many people who think having a lens-flare effect is "realistic attention to detail" not realizing the human eye is not a camera lens.

This last statement sounds to me like a big assumption on your side. Which 'key elements' are you thinking of here? I don't think the Madness engine is any less complex, or is missing any key physics aspects, at least compared to all other sims on the market. But please enlighten us about what core physics rules are missing. ;)

I think 99% of all the improvements we are getting are tweaking of the parameters. (of which there are very many! For each car) Earlier there were some changes to the actual code, such as when the diffs weren't behaving properly. None of the changelogs have mentioned any of that for a while tho.

Thankyou very much indeed mate! I've got another one you may find interesting that im just about to post in the videos thread regarding a problem with Endurance racing when it comes to racing on slicks in the wet against the A.I. and sped up timescaling, hope you find it useful! P.S. I do love the camera options in AMS2 I think they are some of the best in terms of options for different setups and customisation for the player. Cheers!

My aim isn’t to enlighten anyone; I just share my perception and perspective, hoping they make sense. There's a physics thread over here.

is the removal of the tracks tab in setups permanent or a temporary workaround? if it's permanent can the character limit of the setup names be extended, perhaps add some kind of search? if you're the kind of person that will have several setups for the same track (i am) per car, this will get cluttered very quickly in for instance a championship

You can add a description to the setup, which allows more characters to be used

Have you check if date and time of day is as before? I sometime run into AMS2 just resetting the date and a few degress colder track can easily cost time
