So besides Spa its more like a skin pack, which is fine for your immersion, i get why Reiza does it. I may or may not get it, probably closer to getting it as I want Spa 05 so much. Lets see what Reiza TV shows us today

Just a wild guess cause we probably will see LMP1 around Sebring 05, another showcase

Having just slight aesthetic differences makes the track feel redundant. Spa 2005 i can understand there are some more interesting differences, but it is the same as with Montreal 91 where it was only last chicane slightly different compared to the 88 version where it would make more sense to have the 1978 version with the completely different grid start placement. And while i get the 2005 dlc, i rather have a 70's Road Atlanta, or 70's Watkins Glen, Sebring, Long Beach.

Agreed that 70s versions would be nice but let's hope we see those with the 1971 Le Mans. Personally having period tracks is a huge part of the immersion of AMS2 so even if the differences are small it's nice to have a bit less run off, some different kerb styles etc. The last packs cost about the price of a beer near me so no complaints here.

Let's hope AI blue flag behaviour will be fixed with the update with it being endurance based.

And if I may say there’s some tweaking needed for AI behaviour on qualify when they are on a hot lap and reach another AI on slow lap. I cannot say if this is something that happens on every circuit, or if it’s car / track dependent, but on slow tracks like Jerez 88 and Adelaide 88, when I had some F1 1986 races, more than half of the field was not able to do competitive lap times in qualifying. I believe I used 25min qualifying time. Unfortunately didn’t have time to test more as my sim time is normally very sparse.

I don't understand the disappointment with 2005 Road Atlanta.
It makes a huge difference in immersion to race on the older version, even if layout is very similar. Instead of having an old car on modern track feeling it's more of a time machine with age appropriate track.
It's a low hanging fruit given the amount of changes required to make it happen, and we get a track variant for free to increase the thematic track selection for 2005 cars. Win-win.

Not literally free, but an extra track to the pack.
Think 3 tracks are originally planned and then 4th is added because it's a low hanging fruit. (Numbers are made up of course as well as the entire theory so no point taking it literally).

I wonder what has happend to this plan, taken from the july development update about two features to come to the Nordschleife:

Two things that won´t make this release but that are still planned for subsequent updates for the track and the game are a "joker" shortcut" to skip the out lap, and a Tourist layout option so the track can be experiecend as it is by those visiting it in real life

Is this still going to happen?
It would be such a nice addition, especially the shortcut would be simply lovely.

Much more as the tourist layout, I’m missing the VLN layout. Personally I don’t see much benefit in doing the tourist stuff on the Nords (but I just barely use road cars in AMS2 anyway)

Never would I have thought to see GTR 2 content in AMS 2.
Back in 2020, with AMS 2 leaving early access, I was incredibly disappointed.
Automobilista was my favorite sim back then, and AMS 2 felt like a downgrade in every possible way but graphics.
Bad physics, lackluster content, no modding support, UI quirks and bugs, and subpar AI.

The first time I got sucked back in to AMS 2 was when the old versions of Spa, as well as the late 90s GT cars got released, which is now more than 4 years ago.
Since then, Reiza has continuously improved the game by adding new content, fixing bugs, and improving the offline experience to a point where I can now confidently say that it’s the best single player sim racing experience to be had, and overall, my favorite sim.
With the release of the Brazilian Racing Legends pack back in 2022, they showed us that they care about more than just pure gameplay—they updated the sound of one of my favorite car classes, the 1991 F1 cars.
Since then, we’ve seen updated sounds for all three CART classes, the F1 V10 Gen 2s (probably the best sound update yet), and more.
Car classes got expanded, including GT3, GT4, and Group C, new car brands like Aston Martin, Ligier and Alpine got added, and about a dozen high-quality community-made mods have seen the light of day.

With the en****tification of the gaming industry as a whole, I haven’t really been excited about new games, let alone DLC or updates.
Reiza has managed to get a grumpy gamer so excited for an upcoming update that he decided to make a post on their forum.

I don't care that much about Nords overall in sims.

I don't do hot lapping and tend to stick to 30-40 minute single player races which Nords isn't great for so rarely use it. I think Reiza have done great versions of it but I wouldn't have any further updates high on my personal priority list.

I get why every sim has to have it and I've been there a few times on Touristenfahrten days in real life but for the racing that I do in sim I'm not that bothered.

Quoting both for this reply just as a reminder that different preferences and perspectives exist :) not everything is for everyone, most of the things we produce or develop for AMS2 cater to different segments of the userbase at different times; they would each prefer we focused on their own preferences and that´s natural but we need to split and optimize our efforts to serve them all as best we can, at the same time doing the stuff we want to do as well.

Historical tracks are harder to produce and have less general appeal so they are tougher to sell; bundling a few simpler variations like Road Atlanta 2005 - that nevertheless provide an altogether different vibe which is important to the environment of the era we are recreating, along with an extra layout option - is how we make these historical packs viable; they are all similar in that regard, and they all need to have a degree of context within the content of the game.

As wonderful as that would be to have 70´s versions of Road Atlanta and other tracks and many who do like historical tracks would want those bigger departures, those are not interchangeable projects; they would consume far more man-hours leading to a higher price and more manpower caught up in a historical project that will cater to an even smaller segment of the userbase as generally speaking the further back we go, the less interest there is in it so there are growing diminishing returns.

There is a simple reason why you don´t find many historical tracks in other racing sims folks - there is little return on the investment compared to just shugging out another modern track. The pain and privilege of being an independent studio is that we can decide to make things based on matters beryond financial but even those need to be sustainable if we want to keep doing them :)
