I would gladly pay at least Iracing track prices for more historic tracks in AMS2. For me, these tracks are so much more valuable than the modern parking lots.

I love all the historical correspondent tracks and for me it really helps with immersion. But as Renato said I get it it’s really a niche inside a niche and ROI is lower than for new tracks. Another aspect I like from Reiza that I would also gladly pay for it is having these smaller or less known tracks that most other sims ignore. With the Brazilian and South American tracks Reiza already differentiate itself from other Sims which is a win win. But I would love to have maybe a hidden gems track pack for smaller venues from different countries that probably would cost a fraction to license than a Nords and that would require less man hours to accomplish the project. Since we have a great spectrum of lower tier car classes, that would further add to the charm and appeal of AMS2 being different than other main simulators.

Historical tracks might not be the most popular nor money makers, but they are indeed the most beautiful tracks produced, full of atmosphere for awesome immersion into racing eras long gone. Sudschleife is probably my favorite of them all and deserves an award in track modelling. To me, historic tracks are also the most valuable for the reason mentioned and because they cannot be found anywhere else. I would also be ready to pay a premium price for them.

This is a good point... Historic content is like 90% of the reason I keep coming back.
Would it be a crazy idea to go the pre-order route and set something of a minimum threshold for sales before any project kicks off?
Maybe just do a poll too, like a 3 or 5 track multiple choice, see what comes out on top.
Investing a tonne of man-hours on DLC only to have to play the wait-and-see game where you end up with sales and maybe not break even kinda sucks, I get that.
I suspect there is decent willingness here to "commit" up front, I would pony up, no questions asked.

The last couple of builds are so hitting it out of the park across all aspects of the game too.
I don't think my enthousiasm for the project has ever peaked like this.

Edit; 23 agrees and counting for more historic tracks... Keep doing it!

I'd love Reiza to try this and I am one of the people willing to pay up-front for historical (and other unusual or less popular or more difficult to digitally construct) tracks.

That being said, I highly suspect that Renato is correct and that "we" are too small a niche to make it work. And, unfortunately, if that's the ultimate conclusion then it actually costs Reiza to administer, process refunds, etc., taking away time from other priorities. :(

I just love historic content as a way back machine and a way to explore something that's no longer available anywhere else. It's like a museum visit that also resurfaces some good memories from the past.

And I admire that in the current world there are still companies who are willing to create that virtual archive of motorsports.

For some of the more niche stuff I think the only option would be to do crowdfunding of some sort. Reiza could put together a proposal for a track pack of some description on something like kickstarter say they need X amount of cash to make it worthwhile and do it that way.

However given that Reiza are a small team and probably have a bunch of existing commitments and things in the pipeline thats a lot easier said than done.

Unfortunately nothing will ever make everyone happy or get what they want.

To be clear folks there is no chance we won´t keep doing them; being able to bring entire past eras of motorsports back to life is one of the coolest things sim racing can provide, it is the thing I personally most enjoy out of it and with AMS2 we have set up a structure where historic content have purpose, means and a market to warrant being created; there are constraints though like everything else in game dev and life generally :)

For future reference as it´s probably something we haven´t properly communicated yet: the strategy we´ve been adapting for these packs since Historical Track Pack Pt2 and will continue to with Pt3 and eventual further packs is to create sets of at least 3 historical tracks pertaining to the cars that are being released with them - Pt2 featured early 90s GP tracks to go along with the F-HiTechs, and now we have three 2005 versions for what were arguably the three major Endurance events of 2005 to go along with the 2005 Endurance Pack; assuming no licensing restrictions, the tracks to feature are chosen based on their relevanct to the content as well as being relatively low-duty efforts to create on top of versions we already have; tracks that on their own might not provide enough extra value to the game or to enough users to justify their production, but as an ensemble they hit that threshold and because they are not major productions we can offer them for a reasonable price - this is important to keep in mind, as is the fact that these track packs also serve many cars that are already or will be in the game at some point so there is a broader context for them.

When it´s a bigger project - like for instance Le Mans 1971 - that has to be its own standalone DLC otherwise it´s not viable for us to produce nor is it to the benefit of the user to have it bundled with other tracks he may or may not care for at a higher overall price.

And I play it for 99% of my time if the Sim I‘m playing has it. And now? :D

I also think it‘s great for 30 minute races, just do a 3 lap race like the DTM used to do in the back of the day. Great fun!
To me it‘s frustrating that there is still no joker lap option as Reiza has „promised“.
It convinced me to buy the Track again and now this part is missing and there is no statement on it.

There are so many cool little circuits out there which just fly under the masses radar. Unknown makes unloved, unfortunately.

You guys! This feels like a hint for a Group C track pack containing 80's Nurb GP, Brands Hatch and Silverstone!!!1!:cool:

I believe to remember that there recently was a remark from Renato that they are working on the short cut but it is not that easy to include it properly. And that it will be released whenever it´s ready. I´ll be happilly proven wrong if my mind is playing tricks on me.

These would be three really poor choices imo. We have more than enough Nurburgring and Silverstone as it is. Brands Hatch would be cool for sure, and could also be used with BTCCs. I'd also say that another round of Group C development would be focused on 90s rather than 80s- the key cars we're missing were later than the 80s.

To Renato's point I totally understand that there is a balance to be struck between what the established fanbase wants and the sort of 'Checklist' that your average simracer will have when deciding which sim to commit to.

I do think that in the case of 90s tourers all boxes can be ticked at once. 90s nostalgia is a high wave atm, for racing fans this is something we remember well and for sim racers it's an era that brings us all joy. I am very happy with what we've got and what we know is coming and I do trust the devs to continue to provide fantastic content whatever it is

Though, if you search your feelings very deeply, you know that you'll want to bundle it with an out of the blue version of Montjuic Park.

...how many times do I have to buy it to make it viable? :D

So is this confirmation that Road Atlanta will finally be getting the Short or Club layouts with the release of the 2005 Historic Track DLC? My excitement for this DLC would increase substantially if these layouts will be included (as opposed to curb color swaps, etc).

I also hope we have not left the era of the Premium Track DLCs were we pay up for tracks that are new to the game and that come with some layout variants. I understand that Nascar content will be coming sometime later in 2026 and I presume there will be three new circuits to go with those cars. I really hope the circuits chosen will offer the inner speedway course variants that allow the DLC to have relevance with other classes (ie Charlotte for the speedway and roval).

I think that besides being one of the most realistic simulators, the strongest point that sets AMS2 apart from the rest is its historical content.

I hope that one day we'll get a model of the 1989 F1 season and be able to drive the most beautiful McLaren in history. The MP 4/5!
It would be an F1 Classic 3.5 :D

Just for what it's worth (I'm only one customer), the period tracks to match the cars is a HUGE factor, arguably the No1 USP for AMS2 when I'm recommending it to people.

90% of my game time in the last five years has been spent with '60s content in AC precisely because of the range of vintage circuits to fully immerse myself in (and contributing to mod projects). Most of the rest has been with AMS2's 70s, 80s and 90s stuff.

One reason I'm more excited about AMS2's 2005 content rather than the wider roster of PMR's classes is because of the period tracks you're making. I used to think early 2000s or late 90s versions were pointless but then you reminded me how great Silverstone was before they ruined it and how much less runoff and colour certain tracks used to have.

70s Road Atlanta would be right at the top of my personal requests list, whatever the cost, especially if you have some more period sportscars up your sleeve, but I'm equally excited about these 2005 versions. I'm all about the depth of content, so the more cars each class can have and the more tracks from any vintage era the better. Thanks for your post!

I apologize to everyone upset about my comment on the DLC. I didn't intend for people to take it that I was requesting that historic track variants not be made available or are unworthy of dev time. I'll refrain from further comments moving forward.
