Not yet, but something is definitely brewing, and it smells good. Give it a few more weeks.

I switched to Win 11 and finally got around to set up my rig again today. I noticed that the frame times are a lot more stable now and rain and reflection don't tank so much on the GPU anymore. There is so far but one track where the frame times are 50% higher. Brazilia I think. I also found out to set my DD on linear instead of peak. Oh boy, did I had some fun with Formula E gen 3 after that

5800X3D, I even made a downgrade 2 years ago from 5900X. In VR it definitely helps with spikes. I was worried since on Win 11 I can't get open composite to work anymore but performance is finally as I always wished for in VR. In steam VR I run 120% resolution and in game msaa on high, reflections and shadows on high, grass low, 12 cars visible and pit crew player only. The rest is on max. Frame times in dry condition ~ 8 ms, in Storm at night ~9.5 ms. Almost no allising, crisp and clear visuals in general, the trees don't allise as hell anymore. One setting for all conditions, finally!

I'm assuming the performance increase is because Windows 11 has a better CPU scheduler for x3d chips and multi ccd chips?
I don't have to worry about that with my 5600x just my poor 980 ti haha.

5800x3d is sinlge ccd and uses classic scheduling. I have one in my rig, it's just a great gaming cpu and I also observed the benefit of the cache to minimums and frame pacing over the normal 5800x it replaced in many games and especially in VR.

ymmv ofc depending on gpu headroom, memory bandwith, cooling etc etc but I do think single ccd 8 core x3d chips are the old 'you only need an i5 for gaming' of current times.

If w11 does have an impact of it's own I suspect it's not cpu related unless you have multiple CCDs or some variety of big/little core arrangement which are both improved in W11 though I don't really consider parking cores, however automatic or not it happens, to be a good solution really.

Friday is a public holiday in a lot of European countries (for VE day). Not sure if that means it is more likely or less likely to be this weekend.

    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there is any indication about the next AMS2 update schedule.
Since V1.6.9.5 was described as the first of two Formula-focused updates, should we still expect another smaller update with the second Formula pack before V1.7, or is the plan now to move directly to the V1.7 release around the end of Q2?
I understand that plans can change and I’m not asking for an exact release date, just trying to understand whether the next step is likely to be another 1.6.9.x update or V1.7 itself.
    Thanks in advance.

Hello, there is never any info on when the next update comes out. You will only see a changelong on basically the same day the update releases. Guessing release dates is pointless, it will be out when it is finished and never sooner.

My understanding of the opening post is that there will 2nd formula focussed patch before 1.7
    • "This is the first of two heavily "formula-centric" updates, the second expected to arrive within a few weeks"
    • "big V1.7 update later on this year"
Of course things are always subject to change, stuff can just take longer than expected in beta branch before it's polished enough for a release, etc. Guess it can drop any day now

There's new content being tested in beta as well as some new features that will make races more interesting.
Update will be released when it's ready.

So I think it’s valid question from Davidec17. Given the OP says a few weeks. I can see you are new, so here’s my handy Reiza translation:

Few weeks = over a month
Next month = end of the quarter
    Next Quarter = 6 months.
    Summer = Winter
Coming soon = it’s done when it’s done.

    ;)

So my advice wait for the day it drops. It’s much better for your mental health.

Thanks for the clear explanation, I really appreciate it.

I think this way of communicating is quite typical for Reiza: they usually share a lot of interesting information and long-term plans, but the actual timing can be a bit hard to read from the outside.

Out of curiosity, what is your personal feeling about V1.7? Do you think it is still realistic to expect it around the end of Q2 this year, or would you expect a delay — possibly even a significant one?

I’m not asking for an exact date, of course. I’m just trying to understand whether the current silence means they are close to release, or whether it could suggest that the update is still some way off.

It's hard to answer honestly because its hard to predict delays. It's something thats bitten Reiza in the ass multiple times (both with the Season Pass and with 1.6) and why the whole "Reiza time" meme became a thing in the first place.

The only real answer I can give is a vague non-answer (the whole "its ready when its ready" thing) and while it sucks its the only truly honest answer I or anyone else can give. I think there are good signs (especially with the Overtake article having a screenshot of AMS 2s version of the Hungaroring which was approved by Renato) but life is unpredictable and things can change
