Automobilista 2 V1.6.9.5 RELEASED!

The game is crashing to desktop anytime I leave a practice session on any track. This has happened on the historic GT cars, the new F1-style cars, and the 2005 GT cars. Not sure what's going on but this seems to be happening to lots of folks.

 

I heard the F-USA 2023 is giving issues to some.

 

As a temporary workaround, you can try to rename your (Documents)/Automobilista 2 folder (so that you keep it as a backup). A new "Automobilista 2" folder will then be created, and track/car selection will reset to Stock Car @ Interlagos.

Personally, I'd rather just wait for a hotfix, so that I don't have to configure all my settings from scratch.

 

I'm going to try a fresh install since this is happening with any car on any track when I do a Free Practice session and click Exit in the top left after a couple of laps. It gives me the bugsplat message and crashes to desktop. This only started after the most recent update today.

 

They didn't, but the sound that went along with the exhaust blown diffusers is very much present. Whether the game is simulating blown aero at the back with the little monkey seat element in front of the exhaust or just the cylinder cut used to save fuel without the aero blowing, I don't know, but that sound is 100% present and it absolutely isn't the hybrid.

 

Just check file integrity in Steam instead of a reinstall.

 

I just did this and now the game boots to the main menu. I saved the folder as a backup, so I'll place it back after a fix.

Just one opinion, inestead of the vertical bar being the rpm, It would't been better to display the battery %?

The F-USA 2023 (with the 2024 skin name pack) car chosen, the game will crash if I choose Laguna seca or long beach.

Not sure if it's relevant, but I played the stock F-HYRBID GEN 1 at Monaco with no issue. So I'm not sure if this is limiting to the FUSA cars.

 

A completely fresh install including removing the documents folder and steam folders resolved the issue. I know this probably doesn't help you figure out what caused it, but I'm back in business now.

 

Sorry I know you said this wasnt a troubleshooting topic, but when you says mods, do you mean skins pack as well as cars and tracks added??

 

Formula Edge does not utilize its custom-AI file (named FE-G1.xml) at low- & high-downforce tracks. This oddity is not an issue with the Formula Ultimate Hybrid Gen1 class, which utilizes its custom-AI file across all downforce variants..

With Formula Edge, no custom-AI drivers are displayed at Monza (LD) and Monaco (HD), for example. At Interlagos '93, the FE_G1.xml custom-AI file works fine, as it is a standard downforce track.

 

I used it for three hours straight, everything was fine. I also ran two online races, all fine.
I also noticed that the overall antialiasing aspect has improved. With the same settings as before, everything looks cleaner, and the new smoke and particles are very well done.

 

It shows 188 laps regardless of the car you're using, this only happens if you use full tachometer, if you use minimal it shows the correct number of laps. I've already reported this.

 

Is it low res for you as well?

 

Got the chance to drive a few cars today. First let me say that Formula Edge instantly became one of my favorite Formula cars in the game. They have the perfect mix between downforce and power that they feel great and fast to drive without being as sweaty as modern F1 car speed.

Of course I had to test GT3G2s and man, I'm just blown away. This update again moves AMS2 further away from the last few things that I would describe as just a unique behaviour of the engine. If you go on throttle the cars now can now lean much more into understeer under accleration in the moment you add throttle, so you can feel more of the tires biting in the road and pushing the car forward. Instead of having this soft transition to oversteer on throttle it feels to me like the curve of that got much sharper so if you lean too hard into it can snap oversteer you hard. At the same time the patch seem to adjust low speed corner oversteer, now they cars grip up much better coming out of low speed corners like Monza T1. To me this feels like another great improvement of the class that goes again way beyond what you can expect with "minor adjustments" even if it were minor changes to technical values.
Also the Corvette and Porsche seem again to be big winners of these adjustments, removing a bit of twitchyness they had in the frontend and making them more planted to turn in.

I also tried out GT4s a bit, they also seem to lean more into understeer now and got their low speed oversteer adjusted, so they grip up much nicer. For beginners of AMS2 the AMG GT4 should now be a perfect car to learn techniques like properly using the brake to initate rotation with how clean and planted it drives.

Same goes for the LMDh, did a short race on Laguna Seca and it felt amazing. Again the low speed corner grip is much better, while when you go too harsh on the throttle the car can snap oversteer you, making keeping the car in an unstable state much harder.

So overall my first impression is again really really positive, can't wait to get behind the wheel tomorrow again. I didn't even expect much pyhsics work after the 2026 Preview, so I'm really surprised which how much work much have gone into this to refine all these classes. The new smoke effects look amazing too, especially how you can see much clearer now how they appear from the tires and spread from there.
