Even for me, they are not my favorite category but I would say that currently they are really nice to drive

The new cars are excellent. They look and sound fantastic and having mid-late 2000s cars really plugs a content hole in the game (and indeed in Sim racing in general). I love how you can feel these cars are designed for sprints and are supposed to be pushed to their limit, while simultaneously being nervous and will punish you if you 'run out of talent'.

I absolutely love the new circuits too. The Hungaroring and 2001 Indy layout in particular feel a step up in design. Really glad to see some of those 2000s circuits being added to the game. Great work Reiza, thank you for listening to the feedback!

Had a race in rain today which I haven't with the the last two patches yet. I have to admit the rain spray behind cars when the track is really wet is the best I've seen in any sim. You can see this like 15m long trail of spray the cars being thrown up when being fast, and if you follow any car you can't see a thing besides the rear light of the cars in front. Reiza absolutely nailed how much impact on visibility rain has in a race, it gets quite terrifying to stay close to other cars when you can only on visual clues for corners

    Good update.

I’ve noticed some AI behaviors that I really like. The AI-to-AI interaction—with the player in the mix—feels more credible now. Before, I had a much stronger sense of "them vs. me," whereas now I feel much more integrated into the action.

It’s hard to describe, as the behavior is tricky to reproduce, but I’ve seen the AI actively switching from one slipstream to another. They also battle each other more aggressively without immediately letting me disrupt them. Previously, I sometimes felt like I was startling a flock of birds whenever I got involved in a duel.

Interestingly, I’m referring here to the heavy GT3 cars, not the nimble, highly responsive new Formula 1 cars.

I was also a bit concerned about the AI’s interaction with the "old-but-new" standing water patches. Surprisingly, it works remarkably well. I didn't notice a single AI slamming on the brakes in front of a puddle or treating them any differently than the player does. Remarkable. In my opinion, that’s a rarity in simulations.

    Thanks you, Reiza.

Just had a race with the sprint car in heavy rain at Interlagos and I was able to compete and fight out with AI (110 - 95% on wet). The 1.7 physics is top notch. Looking forward for the upcoming content.

Every time I launch the game, it's a total pleasure.
It a shame you can not find online even on lfm. But do not stop, when getting older you understand that online is not that important, but pleasure of cruising favourite GT racecar on some track under the dawn lights in autumn , it's a pure joy

The latest changes made to the AI corridors or the distance and which they move out to attack have made a huge difference! Seriously, I've been having a total blast racing against the AI in any class I try. They feel a lot more dynamic now, and I'm finding they're way less likely to get stuck on you if you make contact, which is a great thing. Whatever you've done with the AI in the last couple of updates, keep it up because it's just getting better and better.

"When getting older..." I disagree. I thoroughly enjoy the single player racing, but I very much want ranked online racing that isn't just league racing. I am 55 and not having ranked racing is something they need to add at some point. Open lobby racing is usually pretty terrible as well as it's mostly GT3 and formula cars only. I can run a dedi but I need to be able to kick people who are there only to disrupt.

I think you dont tested it enough; the latest update improved the AI for mixed tracks but broke oval racing, especially with the Stock USA at Daytona (the AI cars are too slow even in 120%). The AI on dirt tracks also needs a lot of polishing, particularly with the Kart Cross. That’s the challenge for AMS 2 in managing so many different categories: maintaining overall quality. Updates need to be handled more carefully to don't break classes that already working well. Anyway, Reiza has the capability to fix what isn't working and keep development at a high level, the bad part is waiting for that fixes..

well, it's a solely individual point of view. I also go online for other titles, while ams2 is more for soul. And here is the point, that it's a pity it lack online , and wish it will be fixed. ))

That's fair, I don't race ovals or dirt so I didn't know that! It's just my experience with road racing in different classes.

Have you reported your problems on the AI thread?

    Finally got time to turn some laps todays, few thoughts;
    • AI Pit Stop Strategies are seemingly better, I've not fully explored this yet so will hold off on a full evaluation.
    • Tried a quick wet race and the AI were very very slow on their out laps when switching to slicks, I was in a Ginetta Supercup and easily passing GT3 cars. Again not fully done a proper wet race evaluation yet but that was an immediate noticeable issue. I have got the AI Wet Scalar to 0.97% so maybe that's why, reckon this should be at 1.00?
    • Visual Particle effects are fantastic, great job
    • I still believe a Slider for "Max Visible Vehicles" is better than just a round number, running at night I had the car directly behind be kept disappearing thus his headlights kept going ON/OFF and it was immersion breaking. By having a slider I/we can better determine how may cars visible around us to make those scenarios "stick" so to speak. Also pit lane cars/cars in garages still seems to affect this setting, will also post this to the relevant thread.
    • Ghosting cars in Pit Lane is still a major turn off/immersion breaker, really hope this gets looked at one day :(
    • The new HUD is great as well.

    • Overall though a few quick runs and it's a another decent step forward, not scratched the surface in terms of changes/features so looking forward to some proper races this coming week :)

Isn't it already slider? or do you mean slider for visble number of cars in front and behind?

No it's just a number of vehicles you want visible so the algorithm is dictated by whatever the coders have set (this was explained somewhere in the past). By having a Slider for "Cars in front <-> Cars behind" you could better leverage exactly what you see around you, so for night races whereby dynamic lights cost performance, you could have X number behind so you don't get them vanishing in & out and have a set number in front.

The idea of the setting is to help performance and it;s great that Reiza added it in, as it is right now I'm very thankful as even with a 9070 GPU it does help. But I just feel there could be room for further improvement, thus a slider to better help in certain race setups.

Been away for a while so only just getting back in the sim rig and have to say AMS2 is better than ever , AI incidents and flags all working well amongst other improvements.
Joker lap for Nordschleife would be most welcome and a mid race save even at the cost of resetting the live track or something.

When I generate a single-player race, the "Limited Settings" option doesn't appear in "Rules and Penalties." I'm using a custom file with custom weight, power, and drag, and even using extreme values doesn't seem to have any effect. I'm clearly doing something wrong, and the option to enable this is somewhere else?

I mean, I can't seem to use the new BoP function for adjusting weight, power, and drag.

Extreme values? You know these are limited to a range of 0.9 to 1.1 and need to be written with a dot as the decimal point (English/US style) not a comma as in many other countries. If you go outside that range they will just be ignored.
