This update is so excellent I can't stop driving...The wet weather effects are really awesome and I've been using drying tracks for all my races and having a blast. The new gt1 cars feel and sound really great, well done!

    Cheers

I might be wrong here, but I believe the R26 tires use the F1 2006 tires spec (where the rules mandated that 1 set of tires should last the full Grand Prix distance), so these tires were extremely durable and with much less worn signs than from other eras tires. Below there s a picture from Alonso tires on the last lap of Silverstone GP, very little worn signs on on of the most tire demanding tracks (a bit worn on left front as always is the case in Silverstone). I don’t know your settings, but it would look historically accurate to not show degradation signs on these tires on 35 laps

That was 2005 actually ;) A silly rule that was not very popular at the time either. Introduced purely to curb the Ferrari domination, which it did achieve, I guess...

Thanks for the correction! It makes sense, the issue in Indianapolis was on 2005 right? But I remember Michelins had less of worn lines than the Bridgestones right? Could well be the reason there’s less apparent degradation showing?

The Indy scandal was in 2005, yeah. As far as I remember, that had to do with the loads in the banked corner coupled with recent resurfacing work that left longitudinal ridges in the tarmac. Bridgestone knew about this because the IRL used Firestone, which was (probably still is) part of the same company, whereas Michelin had no data and fell flat on their face.

Not sure anymore about the characteristics of tire wear anymore, it's been two decades :D But I do remember that the Michelins were generally considered to be better, unless you had a Ferrari, because the Bridgestones were tailor-made for them. So it could well be that they handled wear a bit better indeed.

I'm a bit confused. I own the historical endurance pack part1.
I think yesterday part2 was added on steam.
Yet I have access to those cars right now, is it normal?

Automobilista 2 - Historical Endurance Pack Pt2: 2005 Endurance on Steam

And when it says says "free" Milano 55 GT1, that's for everyone even if people don't own any DLC they can use that car?

I only miss the "premium track pack" and "premium expansion pack" out of the entire list of DLC since when I got some of the bigger bundles all those tracks were included, so I don't actually need that one right? I think I've checked the list individually.

Yes, it's normal. They will release a patch today to lock those cars to anyone that doesn't own the pack.

Yes, the Milano is free to all, no money needed for that one.

AC is one of my favorites sim but I've actually started driving so much more in AMS 2 lately.

AMS 2 is really up there in terms of driving feeling now and I just love how simple it is to jump in and drive, it's one of those sims that actually feels like a game and not a tech demo.

Yes you can customize literally everything in AC with content manager but that is also the issue, so much things to tweak, setup to your liking its just bothersome compared to AMS2 where you just boot up the game and press play.

Also the AI is absolutely fantastic in AMS 2.

First piece of content I've bought on day 1 for a while, but because of the depth it adds it's unavoidable. Also, TVR. Love this 2005 pack and would be all over a pack 3 if one ever came.

My buying decisions with content are very much around depth of classes and eras at this point.

Also have the '25 Nurburgring on my wishlist, but waiting for a 'cut through' mechanic for qualifying (I always do qualifying before every race).

We think they have the deal sorted but they're currently reworking the 'to be unbranded' content, Renato said it wouldn't be long until they patched that out. Don't know if the release would be immediately after or not.

It's now added to the Bundles, giving the regular 15% discount when buying the SP owners bundle

Oh yeah already bought it. Great discount. It's been really helpful in the long run.

To the people reading this, 15 percent may seem small but it adds up if you buy literally every single dlc like me.

    Cheers reiza!

I hope the AI bunching up issue can eventually get fixed tho. Just had a race with formula v8 gen 1, the leading car takes defensive line for sure but the overtaking car also stays on the same line, resulting it just tailgating the leading car into the turn. And they pretty much just stay that way until one car pits.

Even when sometimes the overtake is successful these cars will just stay glued, resulting in groups of cars on track over time.

I've had the same experience, for a while I was able to "put up" with all the "crazy non-sense" of constant updates to CSP , PURE, even ppfilters are paid, mods are paid, etc... sure, work needs to be rewarded ofc!
But it has a lot going on and can be daunting, outside LFM WSS or some specific platforms to "unify" what mods are raced online... the modding scene became a "wild west" and total "digital anarchy".

Most ppl don't realize but Reiza is one of the smallest and newest sim racing developers in the world. Started as rFactor1 modders... it's a literal case of David vs Goliath.

PC2 was already full of spagetti code, madness engine dates back to 2009? NFS shift?

When ppl compare AMS2 to things like iRacing or LMU, much bigger studios easy licensing, huge infrastructure... iRacing came from Papyrus and Monster Games going together, in 98 they were leaders in physics simulation with grand prix legends and viper racing, later nascar racing 2003.

Half of the ppl that are currently in sim racing, were not even born yet, in the early 90s when all those "giants" started.

Yet, many unique features and leading qualities are only found in AMS2, how is it possible that Reiza is catching up 2 decades behind everyone else and yet comes out with the most fun AI to race? some of the most informative FFB, some of the best optimization while boasting great graphics? Dynamic environment reacting to what the cars do? FCY, SC, dry to wet to dry, easy hosting?

I don't find any other single game that brings out all these qualities at top level, all at once, out of the box, like AMS2 does.
Imagine if they had a way to code driver swaps for online endurances...
(not sure if that's even possible on this engine)
It's impossible to not praise and love AMS2 and the huge work behind it.

Personally, I stopped using AC as my go-to simulator almost a year ago in favor of AMS2; given the available content and variety on offer, I honestly don't feel like I'm missing much at all. I really appreciate features like the safety car, an AI that actually lives up to the name, dynamic weather, and custom skin support—things I don't find in other games. Not to mention the FFB and graphics, both of which I find excellent. I do occasionally let iRacing take over, but that’s just out of habit and for the online racing .

Is there any update on the licensing situation regarding the McLaren Formula cars? Do you expect them to be added in the foreseeable future, or are there plans to add generic placeholder cars to restore the historical grid sizes?

I think the current information is that 1.6.9.95 will add the McLarens while the existing Formula brands get generic liveries and names.
